This back camera screen does not work. Every time I have tried to use it while recording a video, it freezes and will not unfreeze until the video is ended and a new video is started. I really need a functional back camera screen that will allow me to see if I am in frame while recording videos, so if anyone has tips on how to get this device to work or has used one from another brand that does work - please LMK!

The mini monitor facilitates the use of a device's rear camera for vlogging or selfies by providing a reference monitor to frame yourself and help make sure you stay in your shot. While using the front camera is more convenient, on most phones the front camera is lower quality than the rear camera.I tried the monitor with an iPad and a Samsung Galaxy phone, using their respective wireless (WiFi) video casting options (Airplay for the iPad and Miracast for the Samsung, which Samsung calls Smart View). Once connected to the monitor via WIFI and selecting the appropriate casting function, both worked as promised, providing a mirrored view of the device's screen without experiencing dropouts or connection glitches. If wireless casting isn't available on your phone, the monitor does have the ability to mirror over a wired connection, but it appears this option is only available for Apple iOS.To help with start/stop recording, the monitor has an orange button dedicated to trigger it, sparing you from having to go to the other side of the setup to do it on the phone, but you'll have to additionally Bluetooth connect the phone to the monitor. The kit also includes a Bluetooth fob that serves the same start/stop function, if you'd prefer to do it remotely.Included in the kit is what looks like a standard mobile device bracket with a 1/4-20 tripod thread and cold shoe for a light or microphone, but it has the additional purpose of providing a magnetic surface on which to attach the monitor, so you don’t have far to glance if you need to see how things are looking. While the magnet is quite strong, a good bump would also knock it off the bracket, so don’t expect to use this for anything more than something locked down on a tripod or attached to a handle or grip for a casual walking scene.Overall, I found the mini monitor to be a clever solution to how to use the best camera on your phone for vlogging, providing a way to see how things are framed that you wouldn’t otherwise have when using the rear camera on yourself. The image quality is good enough for the purpose, and there’s sufficient brightness for indoor shooting, where I imagine it will mostly be used. The 1,500 mAh internal battery provides decent battery life, but unfortunately the battery level indicator only shows when the casting is turned off, so you won’t be able to monitor the battery level while you’re shooting. Running the monitor off a power bank will make it last longer, but of course add more “stuff” to the whole set up.
