I was looking for a budget-friendly yet powerful flash for my Sony setup, and the NEEWER Z1-S TTL Round Head Flash has delivered solid performance.Pros:- Quick Recycle Time: Keeps up well with fast-paced shooting, especially at weddings.- Easy to Use: Intuitive Manual controls and straightforward TTL functionality make adjustments simple.- Lightweight: Doesn’t add much bulk to my setup, which is great for long shoots.Cons:Build Quality: The plastic feels a little cheap compared to higher-end flashes, but it hasn’t affected functionality so far.For the price, this flash is an excellent alternative to more expensive options. It’s reliable, performs well, and gets the job done without breaking the bank.

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Neewer Z1-s flash, and I must say, it's a fantastic option for both beginners and intermediate photographers looking to take their event photography to the next level. This versatile flash offers several noteworthy features that greatly enhance the overall shooting experience. One of the standout aspects of the Neewer Z1-s is its impressive battery life. During my testing, I was able to shoot two events back to back without needing to recharge the flash. This is a significant advantage, especially when you don't want to worry about constantly replacing double AA batteries. The inclusion of a USB C charger allows for convenient recharging, ensuring that you're always ready to capture the perfect shot. The interface of the Neewer Z1-s is straightforward and user-friendly. The button layout is intuitive and familiar, making it easy to navigate and adjust the flash settings. Additionally, the bright LCD display remains easily readable even under challenging lighting conditions, providing you with clear information at all times. What impressed me most about this flash is the ability to control the flash power to suit various shooting scenarios. You can lower the power to extend the battery life further or increase it to tackle darker ambient lighting situations. This flexibility allows for greater control over your lighting, ensuring you can capture the desired effect in any environment. The Neewer Z1-s also boasts excellent versatility with its ability to rotate in all directions. This feature provides photographers with the flexibility to shoot from various angles and positions, accommodating different shooting styles. Whether you're capturing portraits, group shots, or creative compositions, this flash adapts to your needs effortlessly. However, there are a couple of minor downsides to consider. Firstly, I noticed that the flash attachment to the camera's hot shoe felt somewhat loose. Although the quick release and lock mechanism are convenient, there were instances where the flash unintentionally detached from my Sony a6600. This was concerning, but fortunately, I caught it before any damage occurred. It's worth keeping an eye on this issue and ensuring the flash is securely attached during use.Secondly, when unboxing the flash, I noticed that the hinges contained what appeared to be grease to maintain smooth movement. While not a significant concern, it did give off a slightly unpleasant feeling. However, it's important to note that this is a minor issue that doesn't impact the flash's performance.Overall, the Neewer Z1-s is a remarkable flash that has the potential to elevate your event photography. Its rechargeable battery, extended life, and the ability to shoot in any direction provide great convenience and versatility. The user-friendly interface and compatibility with magnetic accessories further enhance its appeal. Although I did experience a slight issue with the flash attachment, it may be an isolated incident. Should this problem recur, I plan to update my review and explore the option of exchanging the unit.In conclusion, I highly recommend the Neewer Z1-s flash for anyone seeking a reliable and feature-rich lighting solution for their photography needs. It offers excellent value for the price and is sure to enhance your event photography endeavors.

So I was looking for a reliable, sturdy, versatile speedlight and I found it here. Feels sturdy, but not too heavy. Some really are heavy and I wanted to avoid the tired arms problem that comes with some. Has all the programming that you need. Very easy-to-use controls. And it has a round face, which is unusual. It's supposed to disperse the light better with no corners, that you might find on the traditional rectangular face. I didn't see a lot of difference but it makes sense intuitively. The one downside is that you can't use a standard diffuser but the face looks like it has better built-in diffusing capability than most, so might not be a factor. I shot with it and didn't really think it needed more diffusing so that's great. It also has a battery pack which is different from most speedlights I've used. Pro - Very strong power capability, very fast recovery time, and longer shooting time than AA batteries. Con - If you do ever run the battery dead, you can't just switch out new batteries. I'm assuming you can buy a backup battery but I haven't looked into that. It looks like this battery pack is hearty enough that it probably isn't an issue for a normal day's shooting.Overall, I really like it. Has everything I was looking for and if the battery pack lasts as long as I think it might (I haven't run it to dead yet) it could be a great feature so I don't have to carry light batteries all the time like I do now.
