It works as designed for the actual button that releases the car seat buckle but because only one side is tapered you can't use it to pinch the chest clip. Between my long nails and my pregnancy carpal tunnel, the pinching of the chest clip is the hardest part, this doesn't help with that at all so I must keep looking for something else.

The car seat key is a game changer for those of us who love our nails!! I’ve taken my nails off a few times because unbuckling my kids was too hard. Not anymore!! We have several car seat keys, and I even bought one for my mom in law!!

Quality is great very sturdy. I purchased because I do have long nails but it still takes quite a bit of effort to press down so not so sure for the very elderly. I am also using it on a brand new car seat that is pretty difficult either way to press the center button. I will say it is a little clunky on your keychain another alternative that I tried was to loop it on the car seat itself because my daughter would just play with it anyway. Overall it does exactly as advertise.

I have hyperflexibility in my thumbs, which makes it very difficult--and painful-- to open anything that requires that I press down on it. The older I get, the less work my tumbs are willing to do. This has made the process of getting my now-two-year-old grandson, in and out of his carseat a frustrating and time-consuming project. At times, especially in cold weather, I've had to ask complete strangers to help me get him out of the car. I was floored when I happened across an ad for the "car seat key" and immediately ordered one. It works wonders. My only wish is that there was a small rubber or silicon pad where the thumb presses on the key.
