The only issue I had was with the shock mount. The carriage bolt snapped off when I tightened the thumb nut under very little force. It could have been a defective carriage bolt. Went to the hardware store and got a 6mm x 30mm grade 8.8 carriage bolt and it fit perfectly!

Ich war sehr skeptisch und dann total überrascht. Dieses Micro ist optisch für meinen Geschmack eine Beleidigung für das Auge. Puffrot mit billig goldfarbenem Kapselschutzgitter... Oh Mann. Und dann nochmal der metallenen Poppschutz, auch in Gold... Würg! ABER: Es klingt fantastisch! Ich arbeite seit 25 Jahren im Tonstudio und habe schon sehr viele Micros gehört. Der Klang der menschlichen Stimme wird durch das Genesis wirklich veredelt und zwar sehr sympathisch! Warm, ausdrucksstark und in der Tat golden glänzend in den Höhen. Die Mitten bleiben neutral... angenehm! Habe für dieses Micro durch Glück nur knapp 300 Euro bezahlt, jedoch hätte ich es auch nicht bereut, wenn es 600 gewesen wären.Es kommt übrigens sehr liebevoll und wertig verpackt, mit allem nötigen Zubehör. Und da man die Optik auf der Aufnahme ja nicht sieht... langt zu, solange ihr noch eines bekommt! Ich kann euch versichern: wenns kein Hit wird, liegts nicht am Micro ;)

MXL introduced the Genesis FET microphone in 2013, it's meant to have the sound characteristics of the Genesis Tube mic but with the convenience of solid state electronics. I think that MXL has succeeded admirably in that goal, there is a very good video comparison on the internet comparing both microphones. The microphone ships with a wooden storage box, a gold metal pop filter, and an MXL 57 shockmount.The Genesis Fet's body is slightly smaller than the bigger Genesis tube model, so the included 57 shockmount fits this mic properly. Although the included pop filter looks nice, I prefer to use one of my black circular nylon filters - they are more effective in my opinion. I would describe the Genesis FET sound as warm, clear, and well balanced, with a bit of a top end sheen. The MXL Genesis Fet has proven to be quite popular, so MXL have reissued a special limited, "Heritage Edition" of the mic with a classy champagne finish and accessories.In recent years Amazon has become one of my "go to" destinations when shopping for quality microphones - their selection and prices are fantastic. This was the case with the Genesis Fet, the deal was absolutely amazing, I am very happy with my purchase!

Best mic for the price range. It's beautiful, elegant, has decent size and comes with all the accessories you possibly would need for a perfect recording. I recommend this mic 200%. It is amazing.

What a fantastic product and great service from Amazon. The first one that arrived was a complete dud, which contained a lot of static and hiss. So I filed for a return through Amazon's website, and within a day I received a response with instructions on shipping it back for a replacement. What I didn't know was that a replacement, brand new, was already in route before I went to the post office to return the defective microphone; Amazon notified me via e-mail. I had to pick up shipping costs, and I was expecting to receive most of that back, but Amazon paid it back 100%! Great service!Now on with the microphone, which was indeed brand new with all the plastic wrapping and cable plastic ties in tact. I have to admit that I was fearing that the replacement would give me the same issue. Fortunately, this one is a winner! The microphone produced a warm, clear sound and had no noticeable hiss, where as the defect had considerable amount of hiss and needed 100% gain to get any signal, which was extremely weak and full of static. Oh well. Even the best products have their occasional duds. I did a quick test with this microphone in an open area, and it sounded fantastic. I can't wait to get this into a better environment for recording projects.I'm a happy customer due to the replacement and Amazon's excellent service. So why only 4 stars? The shock mount was a pain to install the microphone, for it was quite difficult to screw it into place. Putting the mount onto a stand was no problem, though. This microphone is a keeper.
