An absolute necessity for bass set ups. Take your time to get the right action on every bass.

Spent a lot of money on different files that worked “just okay” until I found these. I love them. They look goofy as heck but are actually ergonomic and nice to hold.

I bought these to replace a set of files that came with a guitar maintenance kit, and they are definitely worth the price. Sturdy and easy to use. I set up a bass for BEAD tuning, which required opening up not only the nut, but the saddles, and these made quick work on stainless steel. The cheapo files from the kit wouldn't even touch that material. If you need good nut files for more than player level maintenance, these are it.

The past few years I've taken bass guitar setups more seriously and even began doing setups as a side hustle. I had been using StuMac's fretboard straight edge with feeler gauges, and their string height gauge and understring radius gauges for bridge and pickup adjustments. These tools got me 90% there. But precise nut filing was the last facet in making a good playing bass feel outstanding. These slotting tools are easy to use and work great. My basses now have world-class setups.I bought a new bass that was quickly wearing out my hands and fingertips. So much so that I couldn't gig with it. That's what prompted me to finally buy this file set. Now I can now play this bass all night. I love what they do.As a set, they cost a lot. But with how they make the bass play, it is worth it.
