I will first say that this is NOT a switch and this is a splitter. Because it is a splitter, it does not come nor require a remote. I actually needed one of these for my office as we have multiple monitors through out the office and my boss wanted to display the same video / ad throughout. I actually like that this comes with a rack mount so I can mount this to the wall easily and not have to worry. I was able to hook up one computer to multiple monitors through out the office which does save me time on having to hook up multiple computers in those rooms in order to play the same video. It also makes it easy to adjust the video on one device rather than having to go to each monitor. This can produce the same image to up to 16 different screens which is way more than what I actually need. After plugging them in, I do not see much issue with images and it will output to all the screens I need. It does require external power however it utilizes dc plug to power it. This does not come with ANY HDMI cable. You need to provide all 17 cables for this so be aware of that. To be honest, I have never seen much difference between HDMI cables so I am able to use whatever HDMI cable I need to for this device. If you are going to output to 16 different devices, I am not sure you have to worry too much about the quality. This device does not get hot so you do not have to worry about overheating. It does use passive cooling so it is quiet. There is no remote as you do not have to change any channels. You can put one device to output to 16 TV, but you cannot plug 16 devices into one end and expect it to output to one TV. Overall this is a great splitter to have and I love the added rack feature. It is a very big device and it does the basic for what I need which is to allows me to play off of multiple screens making it easier for me at work so I do not have to go around trying to change different computers to output the same video.

This would be great for classrooms where the teachers HDMI feed can be duplicated to up to 16 other monitors. Also perfect when streaming to multiple services at the same time. Works flawlessly.
