I love writing with this pen but the poor craftsmanship somewhat ruins the enjoyment… When I bought the pen I read a review that said the paint had rubbed off but the reviewer was a traveler so I discounted the review as I was travelling weekly for work and knew the wear and tear it can have on some items. But travelling or not does not change the poor quality of the paint. My pen always stays on my desk at all times, and within 8 months, it is showing wear with the paint coming off in different places (see pictures). Otherwise, the pen is well balanced, has a nice weight and feels solid. I love writing with it, which is why it stays home! If you are interested in this regatta pen, I would stay away from any models with gunmetal finish! Go for the natural steal rings.Sorry Monteverde but I was expecting better quality from you for a $75 pen!Update - 2 months later, most of the paint on the middle ring is gone...

Feels good and writes well but writing is a function of the ink refill. It does use a Parker style refill but states that it will use a Monteverde style refill too - that is incorrect. Only the Parker style refill will fit.

Beautiful pen out of the box. Exceptional quality.My only problem is that the paint on the metal between each carbon fiber section and on each end WILL start to wear away almost immediately. Does not effect the pen's performance, but does degrade its aesthetic appeal.
