The clip itself is made out of metal the restOf the components are plastic. I do not have a vest but my backpack has some molle on it and it hooked in there with little issue. The j hook it’s rotatable which is the first time I’ve seen that, this gives you significant flexibility depending on your mounting system. Now since this was on a backpack with slightly loose molle straps it was bouncing around a bit but I would imagine on a vest with tight straps it would stay in place.

Lupholue did a good job with this MOLLE action cam mount. It starts with a wide aluminum MOLLE mount plate that you can then attach a standard GoPro clip base to (one is included). This has been great for both my GoPro and my DJI Osmo Action 3. I've got it mounted to my plate carrier for when I run drills at the range or when I play airsoft. The plate is a little wide with a somewhat large footprint, so it may be difficult to mount other accessories tightly close to it, but I like the larger footprint because it keeps everything more stable. Depending on your MOLLE tolerance, it may or may not be a tight fit, but it works well on my GGP plate carrier and MOLLE bags by GoRuck, Vertx, and 5.11. I also like that I can leave the mounting plate where it is and just clip the action cam in and out. All in all, this one's a winner for me.

I have a cap with a plate on the bill, and I have a boonie hat that I wear in the desert for landscape sessions. Now that summer is here, I needed a way to keep my head cool, but keep the POV perspective for my action cam. My boonie has molle loops so adding this plate is a welcome convenience. It was effortless to mount and doesn't appear to drift. You can expect some wobble from the natural action of walking, but the design doesn't appear to contribute any bounce. I simply leave the plate on because it is now a permanent fixture for my hat, and I always know where it is. There aren't any compatibility issues with the various mounts that I have placed on it, so I can comfortably claim that it is universal.

The hanger broke after less than 3 months of usuage.
