Just make sure you "open" the skinny stems to fill them with resin.

It is a little hard to use because some of the areas are hard to press fondant/gumpaste into in order to get full details on the feather.

Silicon used for mould is very soft. Mould is poorly made. As a foods teacher since 1995, who has an understanding of and experience with the items that they recommended to be mounded in this product, I cannot promote it for their recommended use. Neither fondant nor chocolate are completely “self levelling” (very liquid) substances which is what one needs to pour into this product to get into all the crevices. Base of mould was “mounded” in middle which means that base was not solid and this has changed the shape of some of the impressions somewhat and 3 of the 4 “feather nibs” are closed up. Yes they open when you bend the mould but this will make it difficult to poor chocolate into them. Melted chocolate has some viscosity and this may prevent it from getting into the details. Too many undercuts on mould may break off areas on edges if one does not go really slowly when un-moulding...broken edges will detract from finished product. Fondant has some firmness and one may distort the impression trying to press the fondant in, or flatten some of the details. This manufacturer needs to find a firmer moulding material and when creating the “positive” image for the mould, they need to make sure that the item is flush with the base to prevent undercuts. The “Positive” pieces they used were not well thought out, producing undercuts on mould; feather nibs need to be formed to produce a defined opening. The base pieces that they pour the moulding compound against need to have more rigidity so that the mould cannot warp the base as the silicon is curing. Silicon compound used feels “sticky”...which may mean that it will break down when exposed repeatedly to substances containing fats/oils. I will probably return for refund unless cost and annoyance of returning it is not worth it. In the future I am going to buy moulds from well established craft and dessert decorating brands.
