These heavy-weight cast iron candle holders are very beautiful. They are tall, first of all, and it makes them quite a statement piece, the way they taper is beautiful and modern. They look very high-end. The weight is also very nice, you know they are quality and will last. I just like the simplicity of them; they are a look all on their own. Really happy with them.

Summary: Lack of heft knocks off a star (all 3 weight around 1-1/4 pounds) Bases may require manual touch-up. Otherwise, beautiful and stable. Avoid heavy candles. There is no wax catcher, which helps keep these looking minimalist, but you may want to add one when burning. The heaviest, tallest stick weight is shown in the picture at 1 lb 5.4 oz.Details:We were very much looking forward to receiving these black candlesticks because we don't have anything like this in my home to tie my mantle piece decor together. When we ordered them, we knew they'd be the perfect fit for our design taste.They have a timeless beauty and charm about them. We love the simplicity, yet classic and stately look they exude. They are a versatile piece of decor allowing them to look perfect on your mantle piece, dining table, ledge, or shelf. Note that there is no wax catcher, so if you plan to burn candles on them, you may want to employ a lightweight wax catcher of your own at the base of the candle.We've always had a soft spot for anything made of black iron but are a little disappointed in the weight and heft of these candlesticks. They are definitely cast iron, but they seem to be mostly, so they weigh a fraction of our other iron candlesticks of similar size. The sticks are bottom heavy, which protects against tipping. A candlestick will change the balance.From the smallest to the tallest, they all weigh within 1 ounce of each other, with total weights being:Shortest: 1 lb 4.3 oz (575g)Medium: 1 lb 4.4 oz (579g)Tallest: 1 lb 5.4 oz (608g)We own other cast iron candlesticks of the same height range. Decidedly less minimalist in style (which contributes to the weight), those candlesticks weigh between 6 lb1.8 oz and 8 lb 1.2 oz, roughly five or six times what these weigh, so it's a stark contrast.Each one of the candlesticks we received has a flat spot on the side of the base, likely due to the casting, but only two of them are obvious as they are missing paint in this very spot. A paint marker can easily resolve this. Each has a black rubbery patch that will protect your furniture.The lack of heft is my main reason for knocking off a star. Some will see this lack of heft as an advantage. Otherwise this would be 5 stars.

These are real cast iron. I like that's one piece, no assemble required.
