My daughter was very excited to order a skirt with pockets, but disappointed when the skirt got here. The pockets are small - large enough for a key or a credit card perhaps, but not even large enough for her hands - and because of the nature of the location, they don't really work out. We both wish they weren't included. The structure of the skirt is slit sides and pockets in the shorts underneath, but unlike the pockets in similarly styled tennis or swim outfits we've owned, which are tight to the body and cut so that nothing falls out, these are loose side pockets like you would typically find in a pair of khakis. They do not lie flat underneath the flat cut front of the skirt, anything you put in them causes an obvious and unattractive lump, and they aren't deep enough to keep even the smallest of objects from being at risk of falling out. They also have a tendency to bunch up and cause lumps all by themselves, the same way jean pockets did twenty years ago, and because of the cut of this skirt (knit stretching side to side instead of up and down, flat panel across the front), that looks terrible. Even just trying the skirt on, she spent more time trying to flatten out the lumps from the pockets than she did admiring the skirt. I will not be at all surprised if she eventually ends up asking me to sew these closed and cut the excess material off the way I was doing in the 90s with my jeans, just to make the profile look better.Aside from the pockets, it's a nice skirt. The pleated back is flattering, and good at concealing fuller hips than a tween girl might be comfortable with. The material is soft, more peach-skin than the silky she was expecting from the look, but comfortable enough. The colors are beautiful and the pattern she loves. As for the fit, it seems pretty accurate. My girl is a tall, thin 8 year old (4'4", approx. 55-60 lbs) who typically wears a 10/12 in shorts and leggings because of length and developing hips, but whose true waist measurements for skirts is generally smaller than 7/8. On this we took a chance at 10-11 and got away with it. The skirt does pull some across her hips in the front (mostly thanks to the pockets), but the back looks good and the waistband fits her where a pair of low-rise jeans would with enough give to still be comfortable. The shorts aren't cutting into her (all her 7/8 skorts are), and the skirt isn't falling down (the 10/12 skorts are), so I'll call it a win. This likely won't fit her more than one season, but it should be fine for this spring and hopefully this summer.

This girls' tennis skort in bright watercolor print is just adorable. The colors are vibrant and fun, perfect for adding a pop of color to her tennis outfit. The skort is comfortable to wear and allows for easy movement on the court. Plus, the quality is great, so it will last her through many matches to come.
