I’m not a professional musician. I played trombone through middle and high school. In high school I had the privilege of playing on a high end, school owned Bach Strad. I used a Dennis Wick 4AL mouthpiece with it. I kept my student horn (Yamaha ysl354) through all these years, but it has a small shank mouthpiece. For Christmas this year I got a cool wind (plastic) trombone that uses a large shank mouthpiece. I ordered this 4AL mouthpiece at a fraction of what the Dennis Wick 4AL goes for. It sounds leaps and bounds better than what the plastic mouthpiece that came with the horn sounds like. I don’t find any issues with this one. Nothing that would make it any different than the higher priced name. I’m really pleased and I think I’ll order another to replace the old, worn mouthpiece that goes with my old Yamaha too. I was expecting shortcomings in workmanship, finish, or precision. The quality is way better than what my pre-purchase research pointed to.
