This drafting arm arrived at my door a few days ago. Right out of the box the armatures felt flimsy, but I gave it a try anyway. The affixing C clamp is not rigid at all so you must be careful not to clamp too tightly or risk permanently deforming it.Right away I found that there is about .5 mm / 10cm of runout between any parallel lines. The worst part of the construction though are the scales. They are bowed and do not sit flat on my drafting board and must be pressed down to be actually usable. The horizontal scale is not stiff at all and can be easily bent up or down by as much as 0.5 cm. The graduations are not completely printed and coming off in some areas. This model does not come in freedom units for us here in the USA.This drafting arm is functionally a child's toy and should not be considered for any type of serious drafting. You are better off getting a proper drafting table with a set of adjustable triangles or lucking out and finding a vintage drafting arm off eBay at a good price.What is sad is that I would have happily paid double or triple the price for this item if it was functional because the prospect of having to piece together used models from eBay was not something I am willing to do.
