Rising water type weather events seem to happen more regularly lately even in areas that are not overly prone to flooding. So adding an emergency water pump to our household emergency supplies seems sensible.The Medas pump fits the bill, based on the vendor’s one year non-stop running guarantee, along with the pump’s overall rugged build quality and simple design.There is no on/off switch. Plug it in and it runs. The motor is a lot more quiet than I would have expected.For us, the greatest flooding risk is to our basement, so we needed a pump that offered lift (head) of at least 15 feet.We tested the Medas pump with a 40 foot hose, and there were no issues evacuating water from our basement to the street.We have not run the pump continuously for more than about 30 minutes using a bucket and a hose cycling water back into the bucket; but in our abbreviated tests it performed without overheating, or with the pump starting to make sounds that suggest mechanical breakdown, or failure.So we’re cautiously optimistic that this pump has sufficient reliability. We hope never to need to use it, but if we do we’ll update this review on its performance under real world conditions.One minor con…the pump does not come with an adapter that would allow a standard 3/4 inch garden hose to attach to the pump’s 1 inch output threading. But of course Amazon sells that adapter.All in all, the cost benefit of this pump for emergency use is favorable.Recommended.

This pump is very hefty and appears to be well built. I can't speak to the lift but submerging the pump in about 4' of water (~100 gallons) produced a steady turn-over on the water surface. Less than I was expecting to be honest.My biggest issue with this pump is that the posting clearly states this pump can be run continuously, it's in the title as "Durable One Year Non-Stop Running", however it clearly states in the included instructions that this pump is not to be run continuously (see attached photos and highlighted instructions). In the instructions under "Possible Misuse" the first bullet point is "The immersion pump must not be used continuously". Elsewhere in the instructions (also highlighted) it mentions the pump is switched on and off with a float switch. This pump does not have a float switch, internal or otherwise. I tested the "float switch" byturning on the pump out of water and slow submerging the pump in water. The pump runs immediately when dry indicating there is no float switch on this device.So either the instructions included in this pump are for the wrong pump, or the pump is not capable of what the seller posting clearly states multiple times. That leaves me completely unsure what this pump is capable of and makes me nervous to leave it running unattended.

This pump was delivered 10/3/24 and today 11/23/24, it stopped working. Did not even last 2 months.
