First of all, solar panels are rated under lab conditions that are VERY unlikely to be duplicated in the real world. I tested the panel on a 85 or so degree F Texas day with solar intensity measured around 1000 W/Meter squared. This is as about as close to lab conditions as you can except cell temperature is much warmer than the lab spec of 25 degree C (~77 F).Here is what I got:USB A port - no load voltage 5.05 VDC with 0.76 Amp load voltage dropped to 4.12 VDC (3.13 Watts) and with 1.16 Amp load, voltage went down to 3.85 VDC. These were with a commercial USB resistive load bank.USB C port - no load voltage 5.15 VDC once handshaking to allow higher voltage we got 8.8 VDC at 1.52 Amps and 4.90 VDC @ 1.68 Amps My Samsung phone accepted this without a slow charging warning. The DC power port showed Open circuit Voltage 19.3 VDC, and a short circuit current of 1.83 Amps, then under a load of an automobile headlight we got 1.5 Amps at 16.3 VDC -So real world conditions showed a little over 24 Watts, really not too bad on that DC power port, should be fine for charging nominal 12 Volt batteries, but the USB A port voltage dropped pretty low under load. I'd recommend using the USB C port for charging phone or power bank if at all possible.Three total panels, with 2 fold out fairly stiff panels, main panel has bumpout with the USB A and USB C ports on one end and a co-axial DC power port on the other, nice blue LED shows charging, it will light even under fairly bright interior room lights, so that doesn't mean you are getting full power when it is on. Both ports have tight rubberish plugs to keep moisture (and often fingernails!) out.

The Marbero 30W Portable Solar Panel is EVERYTHING it claims to be and MORE.Earlier in the year I started my search for an affordable Solar PV unit that was foldable, rugged, powerful, and easily transportable. I wanted a power source to take with me for hiking, camping, fishing, or just for use at those remote mountain jobsites I tended to frequent.I had aspirations of attaching a PV panel to a suitable solar generator for power during nighttime but when faced with the significant costs for a solar generator proper, I realigned my wants with my budget realities. As I evaluated my specific use cases, I realized that my immediate needs were very different from my long term desires.I had an immediate need for a DC power source capable of charging my iPhone and iPad directly in those remote mountain environments.Invariably, those are the places I find myself most often summoned by those clients that require a little extra care. These are the remote of the remote locations where all modern infrastructure is absent. Having AC or suitable DC power conveniently available for use is nothing more than a pipe dream. With my own dreams reeled in by budget reality, I did my calculations and reviewed features for several products that could likely meet my needs. On paper, the Marbero solution looked like the most bang for the buck spent and I ordered it.Initially I had my reservations with the pseudo plasticized cloth material that comprised the panel assembly. My fears were misguided and upon direct inspection, I found myself quite impressed by the material science that went into the panel design and construction. This stuff is tough!Strength, flexibility, integrated circuitry, lightweight, and portable, too.I have not been disappointed yet.I can stick the unify it in my backpack or even attach it to my backpack, leveraging the sun’s power while I’m on foot from place to place.Unlike some other solutions, this unit comes with a comprehensive assortment of plugs that provide me the ability to directly support a number of different devices as well as charge that future solar generator. Most impressive to me is the panels integrated smarts. It won’t overcharge your devices by design because it knows better. It even has three different output options, making it ideal for a variety of use cases - some of which I haven’t considered!I use it to charge my iPhone, my iPad, and have even attached it to a small inverter for use with a tiny notebook computer. In each case, it performed as advertised. With a 23% conversion efficiency, I can’t wait to see what the folks over at Marbero come up with next. Perovskites? Bi-facial construction? Higher conversion efficiency? It’s all possible.Perhaps I’ll start saving now for that Solar generator or just get another one of these panels to go with the first. I should have known that they can be used together as easily as they can be used solo.I’m SOLD on this product. You can be, too.

I wanted to get a portable solar panel to have for my emergency kit and also for day trips out of the city. The panel is fairly easy to use and comes with many different attachments. The wattage is strong enough to charge my phone and similar things quickly, but only under optimal conditions and angles. When it comes to portability, the panel is pretty easy to take on a hiking trip. It folds up and depending on your bag, could fit inside. As soon as you take it out of the box, you notice It's very rigid and feels very durable. This should work well in the event of an emergency such as an earthquake to keep phones or an emergency radio powered.

I have been expanding my collection of solar collectors so when I saw this one, I wanted to grab it. I would best describe this as a handy little trickle charger that can provide up to 30 watts of juice in ideal conditions. They provide you with a set of different connectors so you can run a large selection of different devices. Additionally, they provide a USB port which allows for direct charging to phones, tablets, and other such devices. When we are out fishing or at our outdoor hangout spot, I plan to use this to recharge our backup batteries that we use to in turn charge our phones and it should work good for that. This is all based only on first impressions from early testing and while they are positive, time will be the real test. If anything comes up, if it fails, or if it just can't perform as expected, I will come back and update this review.
