I think it’s going to work like I need it and do what I need it to but it was shipped rough or it was used before. I double checked my order to be sure I bought new. The product showed up dirty with some silver scratches and scrapes on the black arms like someone tried to use it before. Hm.It seems well made and strong. No time to go through any kind of return process so I’ll probably just dot some black paint on it and hope it was new.

Researched this carefully before the purchase. Not rich enough to purchase a cheap product. The Rolls Royce of articulated arms. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Well built and sturdy. This is a lifetime product. Five stars.

I've been shooting video with my Canon DSLR and I bought this so that I could gain some extra flexibility in positioning the camera. Since it's a DSLR, I felt the double-beam arm would offer sturdier mounting than a single-beam arm. I paired it with a manfrotto super clamp. For the Heavy-Duty requirement, this arm excels. There's absolutely no chance that it's not going to support my DSLR with kit lens, even when fully extended. It could probably handle something much heaver. However, the big problem I have with this arm is that it lacks flexibility. I'm constantly finding that I'd like to twist one of the endpieces to attain a different angle on the camera. Other single-beam arms and ball-joint arms offer that sort of articulation. This one does not, because two beams limit the style of rotation that you can perform. If I had it to do over again, I would probably look closer at Manfrotto's single beam arms, including the "magic arm" that features two ball joints. Those arms seem less heavy duty, but would offer much more flexibility.

The Manfrotto 396B- 2 2- Section Double Articulated Arm with Camera Bracket is very secure, assuming it is attached to something equally secure - such as the Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp with 2908 Standard Stud. The camera bracket has some leeway to move the camera sideways, which has been very convenient.
