The LyxPro TRRS to XLR has a XLR female connector which allows you to connect a professional microphone with XLR connectors like a LyxPro HHMX-10, Shure SM58 or Sennheiser E835 etc. to an iPhone or other compatible device for professional recording, Use this instead of relying on the iPhone's built in microphone and you'll get much better results. In addition it also features a jack for headphones to connect any stereo headphones for monitoring while recording.Since this cable does not provide phantom power, microphones that require phantom will not work with this cable unless the microphone uses their own power or a phantom power supply.Compatible Microphones:Dynamic MicrophonesCondenser and Shotgun Microphones that provide their own phantom power like LyxPro CMG-50, Rode NTG-2, etc.Compatible Devices:Apple: iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4G, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5SiPod, iPod TouchiPad, iPad2, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Mini 4, iPad ProBlackberry: 8110, 8120, 8130, 8220, 8230, 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, 8520, 8900, 9000, 9500, 9530, 9630, 9700LG:en VTouch, LG Chocolate 3 (VX8560), LG AX585, UX585 Rhythm, LG AX840 Tritan, LG Incite CT810, LG VX11000 enV Touch, LG VX8560 Chocolate 3 Series, LG VX9700 Dare SeriesMotorola:A455 Rival, ROKR E8, EM330/ EM28, KRAVE ZN4 Cell, Q Phone PDA, QA1 Karma, QA30 Hint, ROKR E2, ROKR Z6, MOTO VE440, ZINE ZN5, Rockr E8, Razr VE20Nokia:5130, 5310, 5800, 7610, E63, E75, N91, N95Others:HTC Android / Desire / Hero / Incredible, Nexus One, Palm Pre, Palm Pixi, Palm Treo PRO 850, Garmin Nuvifone, T-Mobile Danger Sidekick 2007/2008/2009, Microsoft Xbox 360,Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, Sharp (Sidekick Sidekick 2008 / Sidekick LX, Nextel i856, HP 6315/ Compaq iPAQ 6300

This is perfect for radio hosts who want to take calls on the air via cell phone when doing a show from home in place of using expensive Telos or other similar expensive gear. This will work with Android and iOS (iPhones). Obviously one would want to use the mix-minus coming out of your mixer to connect to the female XLR so that the "caller" or "guest" can hear the host. That mix-minus is most likely line level. If that is the case, you must use a "line to mic" impedance matcher connected to it. If you are reporting from the field for a news station and using a regular mic, you will NOT need an impedance matcher, you can connect the mic directly to the XLR. This adapter also acts as a reliable inexpensive alternative to Technica Del Arte's "Miki Cable" that currently sells for roughly $80.

Tried with (several) Samsung Galaxy S9.Phone does not detect that external microphone is connected (sound remains input from the smartphone mike). This problem is caused by an insufficient value of the LyxPro built-in resistor (1000 ohm).I replaced the resistor with a higher value (higher than 3kohm) and it works OK. But if you are not equipped and comfortable with a soldering iron you will not be able to use this device (with Samsung Galaxy S9 - other smartphones may have different detection levels)...

Works perfectly well with my Galaxy S7 Edge. The cables seems both robust. The TTRS jack fits well in the audio plug even with a thick cover case on. Tested with a Seinnheizer wireless Mike set. The recorded sound is perfect.
