Really seems to be waterproof. We've been using it for several months now and no leaks. We put a fabric pad on top if it that we change every few days, then we wipe this tarp like protector with spray cleaner. Simple system, works great. A little imperfect fit in the corners, but that's not a very big deal.

I got it for my guinea pigs and bunny it seems pretty nice keeping in litter so they don't kick it on the floor it's pretty easy to set up although it takes a minute

This type of canvas material is not great, but when cared for and handled carefully it should last a while. Not recommended for outdoor use, as the summer sun will break down the material after a few months. I learned this from a previous purchase that I am now replacing. Solid plastic or metal cage bottoms are the best, but these canvas products offer a much more compact alternative when you need to put it away to save space. Works just fine with the 12x12 wire panels I have. Overall a nice fit and decent product.
