***UPDATE*** 01/21/2021The tracks worked flawlessly. I updated my rating to 5 stars.-----------------------------I sure am glad I didn't get this as a gift for someone because the Lionel box displayed in the image was absolutely destroyed and patched together with tape.That said, the tracks do not look damaged and the inner plastic casing they were in was somewhat intact.You'd think that if you paid close to $70 for nine pieces of track, the box wouldn't look so rough.I will try to remember to comment on the function of these tracks and whether they are working as designed once my train comes in under a week.

I ordered the Thomas train set and this kit to make the figure 8. But I can't. Turns out they don't have enough parts to do it and I have to spend more money. They sell this set claiming your stock Lionel train set will have the parts to add this on. It doesn't, so now I have to order 2 more 10 inch straight tracks to actually set it all up. nice job. So $200 doesn't get you a running train set.update: They should do a better job of letting you know what you need to complete the figure 8. They say you use this kit and what came with your train set. But if you have a basic oval train set up (like the Thomas train set I bought) it only has 2 10inch straight tracks. To complete the figure 8 you need 4 of them. Without having the train set, ordered everything at once, did not know it would be 2 tracks short. They are nice enough that online they sell the extra tracks you need but in a 4 pack. So you go from 2 short to 2 extra. Called a local hobby store they sell the track individually, $5.49 a piece. So now my figure 8 track is complete. With all the right parts it went together very easily and the train runs great on it. Even got the Thomas diorama set up so the train goes in and out of the tunnel.So basically the tracks work great and are easy to assemble.

Make sure to read the packaging first which indicates that this is an ADD ON pack, meaning you don't get the full figure 8 in the box (maybe you all got this right away, but I didn't). Further, it says it's an add on for your existing ready to run track. However, this isn't so. Not in my case, anyway. I tried connecting the 8 track add on to my existing ready to run Thomas set (for my son, of course). I was still missing two 10 inch straight track sections to make the full figure 8. Luckily, I also bought an activator pack to run an accessory (which I couldn't figure out how to wire, not that you probably care), which consisted of one 10 inch straight track and two 5 inch straight track sections. My point is that I STILL needed the three activator track pieces to complete the figure 8, despite the fact that the figure 8 product description says it's an add on for an existing ready to run set. Maybe some of the other ready to run sets DO have the two extra 10 inch sections of track. Thomas didn't.Overall though, I think this is a great product. Sturdy, reliable. Very easy to set up. I took away a star because the packaging and product description are not as clear as they should be.
