I have a Ranch and all of our drinking water comes from the well. The water is deposited on an open 1/2 thick steel tank with a capacity of 100,000 gallons. The steel tank being open and with exposed to constant sunlight green moss type of algae starts to grow , plus the birds that land on the edge poop on the water. Naturally it’s not waste water. I have purchased expensive water filtration system and works fine and use it for my Cow Hands.All that said I purchased the LifeStraw bottle to give it a try. Works very good and the filters life lasts about three weeks or more , depending on the water not being so merky. There are some down sides but to me they are minor but some people might find them annoying. The only thing that I would say is that it takes a bit of effort to suck the water through the filter element but that’s to be expected since it’s filtering the water. The last thing I found is that if I leave the bottle empty and the filter dries , it sort of clogs the filter , so I try to keep it moist. Overall I’m very satisfied with the product.

I really like the shape of the bottle and also the included carabine. So I can take it with me wherever I go. Now being one month in Tanzania travelling around, I drink water from any tap without becoming sick - it works! The bad thing is, when you turn the bottle on its head while it is closed, it nevertheless loses water through that bullet kind of thing... so not 100% satisfied.. But good start. 👍

I feel like these kinds of filter bottles get a bad wrap. I get it, because they’re not always the easiest to use or drink out of, but once you use a few brands you find out pretty quick what works and what doesn’t by comparing them. As someone who’s used a few brands, I can confidently say lifestraw is my favorite. Here’s why: compared to other bottles, it has a larger and softer mouthpiece, making it easier to create suction and thereby easier to get the water through the straw. It also has a great carrying capacity at 1L, other bottles I’ve used are smaller and don’t last me long. They also have fantastic Customer Service if anything goes wrong or if you have any questions.I love being able to get water from anywhere. When I travel, it’s so convenient and helps my health not drinking all the crap that’s put into water from around the world. The only hard part about this product is taking care of the filter. It’s a little finicky especially if you’re not using it all the time (you have to store it differently than you normally would if storing it for longer periods of time. just don’t let it dry out ever!). But as long as you store it correctly and follow the directions that life straw has on their website, you’ll be fine.Bottom line: if you’re willing to put in the effort to take care of the filter correctly, you’ll love this bottle. If you’re not willing to take care of the filter, then don’t buy this type of bottle, because it’s basically unusable if you don’t follow directions.
