This is a really good reel at any price. Fishing reels have skyrocketed in price in recent years, and this thing was a bargain when I got it at just over $100. I think now it may be alot more than that, so use your judgement on whether or not it's worth it, but it's still probably going to be on the mid to lower end of reel prices. Anyway, it's butter smooth and the drag is very effective and precise so you can set it to a very fine degree for whatever species or size fish you're trying to catch. I only have one problem with this reel and that is the color. It's orange. Like Tennessee orange. Go Dawgs. :) Seriously - this is a great reel and I highly recommend it.

I have not used the reel yet. It seem very smooth and well-built, so I’m giving the reel itself 5 stars. However, I am going to return it because I was disappointed with how it was packaged, the LACK OF any instructions, warranty card, reel grease, or even packing materials in the box. I went as far as to confirm with Lew’s that this new generation of Mach reels doesn’t come with anything. That worries me when a company cuts corners like this to save money while still charging the same price, how customer service will be if I had a problem. See photos of unboxing. No packing, the reel wasn’t even secure in the box. *THIS IS NOT A SELLER ISSUE -This is coming like this from LEW’s*

This quickly became my son's favorite baitcaster. He loves the long cast with no backlash.

It was bought for my husband. He is an avid bass fisherman. It operates smoothly, is lightweight but very sturdy.
