I wanted to get a Leviton brand surge outlet to add in my media box as I knew it was a trusted brand. This seems to work well. It did fit pretty tight in the box, as it is bigger than a normal outlet, but we were able to make it work. Once connected, it powered on as expected!

I noticed that when I use my corded angle grinder in my garage, many times my 3 security cameras don't function correctly when I'm done. Power cycling the cameras will correct any issues.I'm not really surprised as the outlets for the cameras were added by taping off the only existing outlet in the garage and my electrician friend warned me running certain corded power tools could cause my motion lights (also incorrectly taped off the same outlet) to turn on or flicker. My old corded Craftsman drill used to cause my motion lights to flicker.I have a degree in electronics so I understand why. Also, no problem as most of my tools are cordless now and I also run most of the corded ones (i.e. table saw) on a completely different circuit behind the house.As a test, I decided to replace the outlet a security camera is plugged into with this Leviton outlet. It's been installed for a few months now and I've done a bunch of work with the angle grinder plugged into the same gfci outlet that I've always used it on. The camera has been 100% perfect. The other cameras are unplugged so I don't cause them any harm. I don't want to replace the outlets they are on since they are gfci outlets.Planning to convert an old extension cord with an outlet box with the Leviton inside so I should be able to run any of my power tools on any outlet and have surge, emi and rfi protection upstream of the power tool.I got my gray one for about $16. Recently It's been anywhere from $20 to $35 (current price on 7/24). Price bounces up and down according to price tracking website.

I’ve had my fridge and my washing machine both fried due to power surges. I’ve replaced the plugs for both units with these surge protectors. They do stick out a tiny bit from the wall but it’s no problem for my applications.

I own 20 of these series of receptacles/outlets in both hospital and industrial grade. After adding outlets for a home theater closet I decided to gradually replace every outlet in my home with them. Recently after purchasing a Lithium powered blower and string trimmer that used the same batteries as my drill as well as several other rechargeable systems I was running out of outlets and my man cave was looking like a spaghetti store exploded. So i needed more to install 6(12 outlets) receptacles on a dedicated 15 amp circuit in my man cave closet specifically for my (1)router,(1)modem,(1)Canon Pixma Printer,(1)16 slot AA/AAA battery charger,(3) B&D lithium tool chargers,(2)Sears Nextec chargers,1 WORX Lawn mower charger, leaving me (2) lol open slots for possibly my netbook charger or some other yet to be determined stuff. I can honestly say these outlets are great,and if me putting 26 in my house does not prove their quality well than you sir/madame are hard to please. The price is rough,yet having surge protection(with audible notification) at each outlet really makes sense(also have whole house/panel) . Sure i could install one outlet and run a surge strip,yet that makes a mess in the closet to deal with. I am sure when I sell my house the new owner will be thrilled at the additions to keep cords out of reach of children and guests. These outlets hold cords tight and have not had one fail(surge or otherwise)over 4 years.

I purchased this for an outlet that I installed for a wall-mounted LCD TV. Because of the clean installation, I did not want cords/surge protector running down the wall. Serves its purpose well, and Leviton is a well-respected company that makes good products.
