For starters, there DEFINITELY are air vents on the lid. My girls are happy. The magnification is acceptable and the quality feels good. My only minor complaint is the lid doesn’t really screw on. It’s more of a pressure fit, hard to Determine the correct position for the lid, find myself always wanting to put it on upside down. Not a really issue, my kids are happy and that’s what’s important.

I have 3 of these so far and will get more as they are excellent for teaching. They are large enough to hold full grown water tigers, dragonfly larvae, caterpillars, and tadpoles up to 2 inches long. They have a very sturdy magnifying lid and best of all the label is inside the viewer and lifts right out. Most other manufacturers glue the labels to the outside which totally compromises any view from that angle. I've had used several of this model for ten years, every two weeks for 8 months with adults and children, and not one has failed or cracked.
