My review of this product is long overdue - I kept hoping LAView's software "team" would come out with an app update. ANY update at all. But, alas, nothing since roughly when I bought this nearly 9 months ago. The bulb-cam system has been a deep disappointment for me. I purchased it to use as a "kitty-cam" to keep track of the feral cats I feed at my patio daily. The supposedly hi-res 4K photos are...adequate. The camera does function well at night under orange LEDs (cats aren't very sensitive to that colour range), which is good. But, like every bulb camera I researched, this one, too, can only rotate ~350 of 360 degrees, and it has limited PTZ motion, so don't expect much positioning flexibility without preplanning your installation carefully. My outdoor setup is 15 feet from an indoor wifi router, but the 2.4GHz requirement was a known sacrifice going in when purchasing this item.My biggest criticisms and complaints about this bulb-cam "system" is the woefully inadequate, undertested, flawed, and functionally weak app software the camera requires for operation and control. There is (as usual) no web browser app/extension support, only smartphone app. But the app (as I stated above) has seen only one (1) update since I purchased the item nearly 9 months ago. The app continues to crash roughly 90% of the time on a recent tech Android 14 phone that's flush with internal RAM and is configured with few other installed apps. And yet... memory leaks with the LAView app! I've installed a high-end "Pro" 256 GByte SDXC thumbcard flash drive that works reliably elsewhere to capture images and video of the feral kitties, but the only way to view them is to get up on a ladder to extract the drive and plug it into my PC. Sorry...that's not what I had in mind when I wasted my money on this piece- of-junk bulb-cam! There should be no excuses for this kind of useless product outcome. I cannot even snap a realtime photo of what I'm watching when I'm attempting to access the camera from my phone - the app crashes at least a half-dozen times while trying to access the camera. By the time it stabilizes (the 10% of the times it actually does, and that only after about 90 - 180 seconds after starting the app), the animals I'm trying to watch are gone. The camera is useless without its app. If LAView wants anyone's business after their first (buyer's regret) purchase, they'd better consider hiring some experienced app writers who plan to stick around and support their code long term, frankly. My advice to anyone considering purchasing an LAView bulb-cam product is Turn around, run the other way as fast your feet can carry you, and do not look back!

Easy to set up. App is something most smart phone people can figure out. Plug it into electric out with adapter and allow the wifi to adopt it and good to go.Video quality is good for the price. Taking to someone through could use improvement. I have 2 of them

Update 11/17/2023:I was an early adopter when I initialy gave a good review, but as they changed thier hardware, sofware UI and firmware, things just got all screwed up! Support was great once you get to communicate with them via email. At least that was my experience.Looks like they finally cleared out thier older stock cameras (no rubber cover for the SD slot) and have updated the firmwareUI to where everything that was good about it is all back now!Except for the ocaasional defective units and the short WiFi range. These are good entry level cameras that you just set it up inside screw in outside and go. Back to 4 stars.Update 10/28/2023:If you look at the "Device Update" in the (Settings located near the bottom of the page), it will tell what the Firmware version that Bulb camera is on. One of the bulbs I ordered had V2.73.682 which still had the "Activity Zone"and "Starlight" function still available (I noticed it was a returned item) want to keep it but it has a grinding noise when it rotates, so I will end up returning it.The other Bulb camera has V2.79.714 which I beleive is the most current firmware (who knows really) and both of the functions have been taken out, so still no Activity Zone" as they advertise it having and they added some useless "Object Tracking" function that just obscures the video! The "Auto Update" is off by default so it preserves the older firmware. You can not go back the the older firmware once it is updated. Can't they just update the Amazon page and let people know to "update" thier Bulb Camera firmware when they have a fix for any of the functions they either deleted and added back or fixed any issue? Instead of trying to deal with individual customers one at a time? They don't seem to test any updates they make before pushing them out either. It's just bad bussiness pratice not to mention the failure rates they have on some of the camears that is supposed to have a 1 yr warranty.Laview had a DOTCOM site which closed shop, due to similar bussiness practices. I still have some of thier older door cams that are still up and running after many years in service! If they just stop screwing around with the firmware so much things would be better for them and the customers! Maybe even test the updates before pushing them out!?Update 10/28/2023 : Don't bother getting the onvif update. It doesn't work and messed up my camera!Update 08/15/2023: Support was responsive and I did get a "bin" file sent via email to get the "ONVIF" function added to these cameras, but after udating the firmware I only found some "Camera Calbration" function added to the basic functions with no ONVIF function under the "Advanced Function like the B9 camera as promised. Sent another email to see if this will get done anytime in the future. I'm hoping they will. Will update if they come though with this added function.Update 10/28/2023: It was a long process, but I was able to have support send me a "bin" file that needs to be loaded on the SD card and do a complete reset to update the software. My cameras now have the "onvif" function available! Wish they would just send an update through thier site to all that may want it. Glad I'm glad that support answered my request. Ask and hope that you will receive.Unfortunantly another customer did get the ONVIF update to thier camera, but it does not function!
