I bought this to try and monitor mouse activity in my basement and get to the bottom of where they were coming in and how many were evading my traps. I have it placed pretty close to where the mice were walking past, about a foot away from the ledge on my foundation they love to travel on. I have it set to high sensitivity, which according to the manual will record even the slightest movements, I figured ideal for small critters like mice in a static environment like my basement. The attached image is the very first frame of a video that I got from the trail cam when it was triggered by a mouse. The mouse was traveling left to right, but the camera didn't even begin recording it until it was already halfway past the camera view. Probably a 2 second delay at the slow speed this guy was traveling. I was expecting a much faster reaction time from the camera between detected movement and recording beginning. After seeing this video I placed 2 sticky traps in between my snap traps. The mice hit the stickies then tend to fall off the foundation ledge and onto the floor. The next morning I had 2 mice caught in 2 sticky traps but only one video. The video was of no movement, but a sticky trap was missing. So the camera missed the mouse walking over the trap and getting stuck, but only triggered after the trap fell off the ledge. The other mouse hitting the second sticky trap and then falling off the ledge didn't even trigger a video. So the camera appears to have difficulty detecting the mice at all, which isn't acceptable to me given how close to the mice I placed it.Additional small complaints:Battery drains quickly. I am already down to 50% battery power on the camera after filling it with 8 freshly charged NiMh AA batteries.App is very, very slow to connect. Even when very close to the camera and connected to the same WiFi network, it takes a minimum of 2 minutes for the app to connect to the camera and be able to check if you have any footage.Overall I found this product to be underwhelming and disappointing compared to the advertised sensitivity. I get that mice aren't huge but when it's close enough to take up 5-10% of the camera pixels you'd think it should be able to pick it up. I will be returning this product to Amazon.

The camera functions of this device work well, but the app needs work. The picture gallery doesn’t separate photos versus videos so every so often as you’re scrolling through pictures you hit a video and things stop while it loads the video. Also no index or way to setup of folders to organize photos and videos, and it won’t automatically upload to your photos folder. The wireless connectivity is bad. To initiate a connection, you first need to be within about 4 feet of the camera to establish a Bluetooth connection. Come on, I can connect to my Bluetooth speakers from 20+ feet away. Why do I need to be standing right next to this camera to connect? Then it goes through an extended dialog to setup a WiFi connection, including prompting you to join its WiFi network and then clicking “Start” initiate the camera connection. Overall, this process takes about a minute requiring multiple inputs from the user. Again, come on. First of all, it needs a mode to join an existing network rather forcing you to join it’s network. Second, all of this connection information should be saved when you setup the camera and app so you don’t need to be clicking multiple “Ok” and other things every time you want to connect. Many of the reviews comment that it goes through batteries quickly. It does have an external 12V power supply that I have been using with a standard laptop style power supply which works OK, but you need to reset the devices date/time every time the power is disconnected. The USB connector is only accessible if you open the camera case so there is no way to operate the device using a USB power supply. This is unfortunate because it would be nice to be able to setup a USB solar panel to recharge batteries.Bottom line, camera seems OK, but the connectivity and app need a lot of work.

This is a great trail camera. I got this to see some of the wildlife that hangs around my bird feeder. We get lots of deer, foxes, raccoons, and even the occasional skunk. I was able to attach it to a tree about 15 feet from the feeder and it works great. Catches a lot of stuff at night too. The picture quality at night is what you would expect from a night vision video, a little bit blurry but it does the job. The day videos are great quality. The only thing is the motion sense is very sensitive so if there's a branch nearby and it happens to be a windy day, your going to have sooo many videos to look at. The way this works is that you have to buy an SD card for it. I bought a 256 GB SD card, and put it in the camera along with a few batteries, it was either AA or AAA, sorry I don't remember. You download the app on your phone, they give pretty straightforward instructions. Then you have to be a certain distance from the camera to be able to see the images and videos on your phone. It can be kind of annoying sometimes, but it's ok. We had the camera up for a few weeks before we had to change the batteries. The app on your phone will tell you what percentage the battery is at as well as how much storage is used up on the SD card. I had never gotten or dealt with a trail camera at all before, but this was pretty simple to use and works well.

Let me start off by saying that the optics seem great (to my unsophisticated eye). I’ve only used it for nighttime captures of raccoons stealing bird food.I bought a 128GB SD card for $22. For my needs, 128GB is way overkill. I haven’t even used 2% of the memory, but then again, I check the activity daily.I bought a DC converter for $9 to power this camera. This has worked out well. Other reviewers had talked about this camera drains batteries very quickly, especially when using the infrared night vision. There is no sense of a video zoom built into the camera – maybe more expensive cameras have this feature. The only zoom available is from a 3rd party App running on your device after a download of the video file. The “WiFi” that comes with this camera can be confusing. The camera’s Wifi is *NOT* the same as the WiFi that is probably in your house – the 2 are very different, distinct and incompatible. In order to attach my Android phone to this “camera’s WiFi”, the automated process first disconnects your phone from the house’s WiFi and then connects your phone to the camera’s WiFi. Once connected, you can see the camera’s view, look at/change the camera’s setting and see all of the photos/videos stored on the camera. However, you can NOT use your house’s WiFi while connected to the camera’s, and vice-versa. Once you disconnect from the camera’s Wifi, my phone automatically re-connects to my house’s WiFi.The App that you must download onto you phone is adequate, at best. Three things that could easily be improved are:1) When the camera auto-plays videos, the order that you see them is latest-to-earliest, which is exactly the reverse order of when these video were taken (earliest-to-latest).2) When downloading or viewing the videos, the camera pauses at various times to allow the download to “catch up”. There shouldn’t be pause during download because the camera should be idle.3) It appears that the camera’s App significantly drains my phone’s battery, even after I disconnect the camera. The only solution for this is to manually stop the camera’s App that running on my phone. There are time gaps of several seconds between where one video ends and the next one begins. I assume this has something to do with the camera writing the video to the memory card. I understand, but wold be great if this could be improved.Averaging all of the above – 4 stars. Give it 5 stars for video and 3 stars for the App and confusing WiFi.
