This mount works perfectly with the Garmin Mini 2 GPS. It keeps the GPS readily accessible and secure. If the GPS gets knocked out of the mount, the tether keeps you from losing it. The biggest advantage for me is I can no longer set the GPS down and then walk off and leave it.I first started using it on my backpack, but then I switched it to my belt. That way, if I lose the backpack over a cliff or down a crevice, I still have access to my location and emergency call button.

I have a Garmin eTrex 22x. The half of this mount for the GPS slid right in to grooves on the eTrex and is well secured, it's a good fit, as if it was made by Garmin itself. You'll have to remove this part of the mount when you change batteries, so this will be an activity you do every few days if you use your GPS a lot.The section that is anchored onto the backpack strap is also well made. It's held onto the strap with velcro and I'm not concerned about it getting loose while on the go. Of course, if the velcro gets dirty then it will not bind well and that certainly could be a problem. But by that time I'll have figured out how to add a safety pin or some other latching device to the mount.Mating the two sections together can be a little tricky. I first thought it would have been nice if the two halves could only insert when in one orientation, because I ended up having the GPS sticking out at a weird angle until I learned how to properly insert the mounted GPS so, when it turned, it ended up in a vertical orientation. But then I realized, not everyone will be mounting to a backpack strap. Someone may want to mount to a belt or other horizontal strap. Since mating between the two sections can be done in more than one orientation, that turned configuration can be handled, too, while carrying your GPS so the antenna section is upward and collecting signals.So why remove one star? I'm a little wary of the coiled cord between the two halves, and especially the permanently looped ends of that coiled cord. Somehow the ends feel a bit fragile to me. I'm sure in the first few hikes they'll be ok, but will the connection hold up over time? I don't know. Of course, if I ever get too concerned, I could take a couple of lanyards, tie them together, and use the two clip ends to connect the halves of this mount together. And maybe I'll come to realize that I don't even need the two halves connected with a cord - maybe holding my GPS in my hand will be good enough since I can attach a small hand loop to it. I can then use this mount as a way to store my GPS when I want my hands free. At least I have options, and that's a good thing.I have always had a Garmin case that can be put on my belt. It has a small window through which I can see the display, and I would buy a fresh one from time to time as I went through one eTrex to the next. But Garmin doesn't seem to make a case like this any more, and the window of my old case has yellowed while the case has frayed, so I've been bummed that I don't have a way to keep my eTrex handy without having to use my hands. I like that this mount give me a new way that's a substitute for what Garmin no longer provides. I hope my experience has been a help in your buying decision.

I do a lot of public land hunting and i hardly used my garmin gps because i got so tired of holding it or constantly getting it in and out of my backpack so i wouldn't loose it. This makes it so much easier and helps me stay off private property. I would for sure recommend it for anyone else.
