Imagine a gorgeous purebred black lab hunting dog. We will call him Duke. Duke’s favorite things are retrieving birds and wiggle-walking in figure eights while lipping a tennis ball, proudly showing it off to anyone who will stop to look. Now imagine Duke with a big toothy grin wiggle walking in the way happy dogs do. Hilarious, right? Just the thought of these grin-balls had us in stitches. Entire family has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Duke’s new smile. Yesterday they came in.Sadness. These things are tiny. I’ve seen bigger gobstoppers in the candy section at Cracker Barrel. The “small” balls must be for chihuahuas and other brands of miniature dog, but there’s no way we could give these to our lab and not expect to see him in dead bug pose out in the yard, choked on tiny grinning balls of Death. (I can all but guarantee that’s on the list of ways he’d wish to go, though. Death by ball)You can probably imagine our disappointment. I mean, I ordered from Amazon, not temu. I saw my mistake within seconds of pulling the order up to double check the wording. The fault was mine. Lesson learned. But the disappointment still lingers.Moral of the story: pay attention to the size. The word “small” was tucked away in the product title, not on the ball packaging, but I’m a visual person so the picture showing the larger dog sporting a good sized set of goofy ball-chompers dominated my perception. My only complaint about these toothy balls is about how this information was communicated- not a problem for the more verbally oriented, but can feel like a major let down for visual peeps like me. I feel like the small balls should have been depicted with a small dog. But maybe that’s just me.Another thing I didn’t realize until after I started the return was that they charge you shipping (around 1/3 the cost of the product) for the return. Lame.I know a miniature dachshund who might like something to smile about, so I’m canceling the return and not going to bother with ordering Duke a toothy ball online. It’ll have to be bought the old school way- live and in person. The only reason I can’t bring myself to give this a five star review is because of the way these balls are portrayed in the description vs the images. Sellers- please keep visual people in mind when using images. They are a bigger part of selling your product online than you may think.
