The BMPCC's mini XLR inputs accept BALANCED AUDIO. This is a BALANCED cable. BUT, some wireless mics' output is NOT balanced and is instead UNBALANCED. Using this cable with such a Mic and the BMPCC, out of the box, will not work. You will not get any audio due to phase. The "trick" is to convert these cables. To do that, just unscrew the TRS end of the cable and expose the wire connections to the plug. Use some tiny scissors and snip the BLUE cable clean leaving the RED cable intact. Re-seal the TRS connector and you're in business. Game changer for my setup. Now I can run (2) unbalanced mics directly into the BMPCC's 2 mini XLR inputs.

Doesn't work whatsoever for a direct plugin of mics unless you have the old-school lav mic system and not the Rode wireless go it doesn't work.

So I bought this for the BMPCC4k to go with the Rode Wireless Go. When I put the cord into the Rode Wireless Receiver I wasn’t getting any audio. I pulled out the 3.5mm cord a little from the receiver and then started to get some audio. Not sure if it’s the cord or the wireless rode mic.

So I initially bought this in an attempt to plug in a Rode shotgun mic or my Diety D3 Pro to go through the XLR input but the translation between the two just doesn't work with an adapter like this. However, much to my delight, when I plugged it directly into my Sennheiser receiver: holy smokes. Not only does it eliminate having to connect a full size XLR cable, converting it to mini XLR and all of that dangling mess to tie up, BUT it increased the loudness of the mic like crazy. I have been used to going through a FetHead to try and get a boost with some clean gain, which again - adds a ton of extra stuff to your rig. With this cable I was able to go straight into the Pocket 4k and had to reduce the input settings of the receiver down to -24db. It is still very clear and because I had to turn down the volume there is almost no static or hiss in the audio. This is a surprise I was not expecting. I only gave it 4 instead of 5 because I can't send a regular on camera shotgun mic through it.
