I recently purchased this sanding and polishing kit. Unfortunately, it has the same problem as all the other budget sanding and polishing kits I've used: the backing pads and interface pads are slightly larger than the sandpaper. This causes the exposed velcro hooks to leave scratches and swirl marks. In my opinion, the sandpaper should be slightly larger than the backing pads. Aside from the fit issue, the sandpaper seems to be of decent quality. I used it both wet and dry and had no problems with it falling apart. It does dull quickly, but for the price, you can't beat it.

I chose this kit because it had 5000 and 10000 grit sanding discs, which I rarely see. They work very well on my 20V DeWalt drill, which has a max speed of 2000 RPM, but I think they also work on a die grinder, which would work even faster. The grits are true. I tested by wet sanding some car scratches and the finish after each grit is as expected. 1000 is a dull finish. 2000 shinier, 3000 still shinier, and 5000 and 10000 left the area as glossy as the factory finish around it. I sprayed the area and the disc with water before sanding. The discs cleaned up easily with soap and water and still seem to have all their abrasives, so I'll be able to reuse them for a while. Why send them to the landfill when it takes only a minute to save them?I also used the wool pad with Meguiar's ScratchX 2.0 scratch remover (without sanding first). They disappeared shockingly fast. That product worked great when I applied it by hand, but it took forever. This got the scratch out in SECONDS, no special tool or extension cord needed. I'm stoked.I also wanted to polish things around the house, so I tried the sanding discs on an aluminum pan that was scratched up. See attached photo. Looks like I should have started with a lower grit to get the deep scratches out, but life is too short to baby my pans, so it's great these helped me get the pan back to being presentable enough with minimal labor. The hook-and-loop backing also seems durable. I've peeled them off and put them back on several times and they're still holding well.Protip (learned it the hard way): get a big cardboard sheet (just rip open your last Amazon box), fold it into thirds like a room divider, and use it to surround the area you're polishing. It'll catch all the sanding slurry, compound, polish, etc being flung around at high speed, instead of letting them land on your windshield. I guess the proper thing to do is to tape off those areas, but that's too much work and waste just to fix one scratch. Also wear your best painting clothes.

Wow! 12 levels of grit from 60 to 10000! These hook-n-loop polishing/sanding pads and the sheer number of items and quantity contained in this kit is outstanding. I have already figured out that I can use these pads (1500, 3000, and 10000 grit) to sharpen my pocket knife. I just vise mounted the buffing pad and swapped out the different grits. The 10000 grit is almost like a leather strop giving a fine sharp edge. Just one way you can use this kit for more than the obvious Headlight Restoration, repair of coatings and scratches on the car or many other polishing jobs. You get a lot with this kit at a fair price, but you won't get any instructions on how to use it. You'll need to look up some videos on how best to use some of the items. While the sanding discs are mark with grit value, the different colored polishing pads are not identified to their different softness and uses. I like that there are two hook/loop pads, one of which can swap between 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch shanks. I spun up a wool buffing pad on my dremel and nearly max'd out the rpm's without any wool flying off or the buffing pad falling apart at high rpm's. Other than there’s no details/instruction provided, my only thought would be for the kit to have individual zip locks bags for each grit level pad instead of all being together, but that’s just a nit.
