This is the worst crimper I’ve ever used. It doesn’t cut it doesn’t crimp, look elsewhere unless you want to be eternally frustrated

I used it to crimp some RJ45s with the pass through cables. The cutting part worked ok, but I still ended up cutting the cables closer myself with a razor ( but that's more of my own OCD, rather than a knock on the tool )

I'll just say up front this crimper is not going to cut it if your daily job is running network cabling. It's not a professional grade tool. That said, if you need something to run and maintain a home or small business network, this is not a bad choice. It does pretty much everything you need a crimper and stripper to do. Construction quality is okay and typical of a tool in this price range though it does have a nice heft to it.

There's not much fancy to this, it's an all-in-one tool so that you can strip the jacket off the CAT6 cable, trim the ends of the individual wires, and then crimp the connectors on the end. This works really well with the pass-through connectors, and it clips the wires flush with the end of the connector as you crimp the connector onto the cables. It has a printed on guide for the wires, so people like me don't forget what order the wires go in, too. It's what you need to terminate your own cable, and it does the job it's hired to do.

Hopefully by now you are using pass through connectors (Gaobige makes a nice one). With pass throughs, you line up your pairs and don't just intsert them, but push them until they come out the other side of the connector. This allows you to double check that wires haven't gotten crossed while pushing them in. If this hasn't happened to you, you're either lucky or very very very good. After double checking they are still in the right order you then insert the RJ into the tool. It gives you a second chance to make sure you don't have them in "upside down" because there is a picture of the order they should be in when you insert the RJ. So if you see brown on the picture and you're seeing orange with a white stripe, you know you inserted the wires in "upside down" and you still have time to pull them out and turn them around. Once you are sure you have it right and you push the RJ in there, you pull down on the handle and it crimps and cuts the ends that are sticking out. This means you no longer have to worry about how far back you've stripped to cover off the wire to meet standards. You strip off as much as you want, sort the cable colors out, then just push it all the way into the RJ, and that will be the right length, and you'll just lop off the excess. Only way to fly. It locks shut when you are done so nothing gets into the tool blade although it ships with and extra. Oh and there is a cover sheath cutter shipped with it too. And instructions. Although one tip, I have found that if you take the piece of sheath that you cut off, you can use it to separate the pairs easily, the when you get to the bottom of the pair, you squeeze the sheath as you pull it up and it will also straighten out the twist. Again you don't have to worry about straightening out too much because it will be inserted to the right depth with the push throughs.
