I have to start saying that I did not purchase this clamp set for a starlink mount. I picked this one for my trail cam. I used this mount set to mount my trail cam on a tripod during this past week long camping trip and it worked perfectly. The solid metal clamp held firm and the 1/4" screw mount worked perfectly to set my trail cam on. The overall length was also more than enough for the size of the camera giving ample adjustment angles. The mount held firm even in heavier winds. The clamp itself opens wide enough to potentially mount on items a little thicker than some clamps I have looked at making it a bit more useful. The clamp does also have one 3/8" threaded hole that incidentally also happened to be a perfect fit for the threaded end of simple metal fishing rod holder I had so with a couple other 1" ball fittings that I already had it also ended up making a very useful adjustable fishing rod holder setup. And for those that are intending to utilize this for a starlink the mount set does come with a solid metal milled mount as well. This is a great little mount set that can be used for many things and not just as a starlink mount.

This clamp is billed as a clamp for Starlink installation, but can be used for many other things. Because it has a camera-style mount, it could likely be used with anything you may typically mount on a tripod. I got it to use on a custom tripod I fabricated to hold my spotting scope at the rifle range, made from 1" outer diameter pipe. I have a pretty heavy scope, and this clamp holds it no problem. This clamp has a very solid feel and has tremendous clamping force, well beyond what I will ever use it for. By design, this clamp can be moved around in all sorts of ways, depending on the application. Very nice.

1/4-20 thread is the universal thread for these types of fixtures .I'm using it for a game camera .Very sturdy and large enough to provide adequate range of motion for the larger cameras .

Bought it not as a Starlink mount, but to hold my SLR on my PC for use as a webcam. It's amazingly stable, even with a heavy SLR camera. I think the clamp is strong enough that it could crush some tubing. Very highly recommended

I'm very happy with this mount. It's great because you can use it on a tripod as well. Very sturdy aluminum construction.
