I have used the "T' shaped tool to get coconut water out of green coconuts and Thai young coconuts. I have successfully used the hammer and round measuring cup looking tool on Thai young coconuts, it didn't work well on green coconuts. Some tips: use the T shaped tool to poke through the eyes, there is one soft spot where it will easily go through, drain the coconut water out and then use the round measuring cup looking tool on the other end with the hammer. It needs about 10 strong whacks to drive it in, try to drive it in at a slight angle, this will be helpful to use it like a lever to pop the top open and get the tool off the coconut. The tool that is shaped like a loop with the wooden handle is extremely helpful for scraping the meat out of the opening. LOVE THIS KIT!!!!

The set works, but while doing my second coconut unfortunately the meat remover itself detached from its handle.I wish the vendor can contact me and send me a replacement, so I can put the 5 stars back where I put them in my previous review.Else, I’ll have coconut water, not much meat.

I initially bought this for my mom because she was starting to sell coconuts at her business during the summer months. She wanted an easier way to cut open the tops of young customers rather than hack away with a butcher knife (which can be very dangerous if you're not careful). She uses 3 of the main tools--the coconut opener, rubber mallet, and the T-shaped tool. It has made it much easier and safer for her to open the coconuts. I've seen her open the coconuts and it takes her about a minute to cut it open. I did notice that you do have to hit the tops quite hard otherwise the tool does not cut through the white fibrous layer of the coconut. But I think it's expected to apply a lot of force to cut through the top. She actually enjoyed the tools and ease of use so much that she asked me order a second one for her business partner.
