The opening for the battery was stiff, due to the o-ring seal for waterproofing purposes. While lining up and closing the backplate, a small section of the outer ring of the plate broke off, exposing a portion of the o-ring. This may or may not impact the waterproofing feature, but the device still works.

There's nothing worse than catching a PB without a scale. That's what happened to me, so as soon as I got home from fishing, I started searching for a quality, durable scale. This Kastking scale fit the bill perfectly. It comes with the fish grippers, which also float, so I don't have to worry about losing them over the side of the kayak. I haven't needed to use the memory feature, but I'm sure that would be important for any tournament anglers. On my first trip out, I must've accidentally clicked the buttons a few times, because it was weighing everything in Kilograms, instead of pounds. I read the directions after that trip though and got it back to pounds. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. The scale is made with quality plastic and it is comfortable to hold. The fish gripper is easy to use with one hand and they haven't come loose when holding/weighing my wish. I like using the grippers much more than just hanging the fish on the metal hook of a scale. I don't have to worry about damaging their gills or anything. I would recommend this to any angler. Buy it now, before you catch your next PB!! Don't make the same mistake I did.

Over all the quality of the product is excellent. By seeing the product pics I was hoping to receive a 6 inch gripper. But am not sure if it is by mistake..or so.. I received 10 inch gripper( some may like bigger one.. but I purchased this hoping to get 6inch only). I have sent an email to kastking customer service 4 days ago and waiting for reply.. I'll come back and update after their response. Holding back to see if I have to return or not.update: they have upgraded the product to have big gripper. So i have to return.. and purchased another kastking scale 110lb one.. and purchased different gripper.
