not bad for what it is, i actually used to keep live bait and also cat fish. Well because cat fish sharp fins did stack in the net. i am saying if you going to keep big fish it will stack. But over all not bad

Don't waste your $25, the fish got stuck in the basket and had to cut the netting to get the fish out. $25 for one use, not worth it. A stringer is a much better option at 1/10th the price.

It is a descent net. The holder could have been sturdier. The downside is that it has strong chemical smell.

First thing, while this packs up nicely, just be aware that the net is quite large. Obviously, that's a good thing when the goal is to give small fish a chance to swim around and stay alive in it.I mostly fish for trout and bass. I used to keep them on a stringer in the water but once that has several issues. First and foremost, it leaves the fish susceptible to being eaten by snapping turtles. I have pulled in a stringer of only heads more than once because I wasn't paying close enough attention. Second, the fish can get crowded, and it doesn't allow them to move around as easily, which results in them not surviving for as long.I picked up this net hoping that it would solve both issues. You do need the water to be deep enough for the fish to fully benefit from this. Too shallow and this net isn't going to do much good. In that situation, like right off shore in a shallow area, you are probably better off with a stringer, although in high sun that still isn't going to buy you too much time. So, ideally, you are using it in a spot where the net can fully extend under water. As for allowing the fish to move around freely, it really depends on the size. Pan fish or bait fish will certainly do well in this. Larger trout or bass will probably struggle. If I am fishing for food, I am probably still going to cut the gills and put them on ice right away anyways, rather than keep them in the water, just to preserve the flesh at the highest quality possible. I have not yet had a turtle come and try to snag my fish from within, so I don't exactly know how well it will hold up to that, but for now it seems to be a deterrent. If there are any issues with it, I'll report back, but I think that this is a product where what you see is what you get. It seems to hold up well and does what you would expect.
