Nice train for price. Seemed to b of good quality. Ran right out of box. Easy to assemble. Neat smoking engine and horn. Nice train set. Grandson loves it. Would recommend.

The train worked pretty well as long as we put it on the floor and not on the carpet. Once in a while, it went off the track but a lot of the time it stayed on. My nearly 3year old grandson loved it and was able to work the controls forward and backward and adjust the speed by himself. He kept asking to play with it during our Christmas visit.

This train set will require an adult to be present when played with. A child cannot reasonably be expected to line the cheap plastic wheels back onto the track without assistance. The wheels are flimsy and not the easiest to line up. I would not recommend for a small child.

Bonito tren aunque se antoja la venta de accesorios, casitas, puentes o rieles extra.

This is a really nice train set but I really don't think the 36 month minimum age is a good idea. There are lots of small parts, like the clips that hold the tracks together and the whistle that come off to add water. I'm sure a 3 year old would watch it go around the track for hours, but only under a watchful eye perhaps. The tracks do not snap together very well and you have to put the tiny clips at each connection to hold keep them together. The clips do not snap on and can easily fall off. The plastic connectors that link the cars is also a bit fragile looking. The instructions are a bit confusing in that it says you can also use 4 "AA" batteries instead of the rechargeable ones that are not removable. But when I removed the battery door to check this, there was no battery holder or wiring inside. I expect there are 2 versions of this, one that is USB rechargeable and one that uses batteries. The charging technique is a bit strange because you have to disconnect the coal car from the engine, plug one end of the charging cable into the coal car and the other into a USB port. A light on the cable indicates that it is charging and goes out when fully charged, which took several hours. On the good side though, it did run for quite a while on a full charge. The remote uses 2 "AA" batteries (not included). The sounds are somewhat realistic and not too loud to be annoying. You can also turn off the sound function by holding the whistle button down on the remote. You can also disable the "steam" function the same way with the other button. But the cool steam is so cool I don't know why you would want to turn that off! The train goes forward and backward at various speeds using the wheel on the remote, though the center (full stop) position was a bit off and had to be slightly forward for a full stop. Another nice feature with this is the auto-off function to conserve battery life. To use it again, you have to turn the engine switch off and on and press the power button on the remote. A gentle chime tells you when the power is on and the remote "sync'd" to the engine. I really like this set even with its few problems and my wife got a laugh at how long I played with it to do this review. This would look so cool around a Christmas tree - if only you could get more tracks. Like I said though, watch the age and keep an eye on those small parts.
