I teach ESL, so I am constantly on the prowl for games that will add a little fun to my classroom. I used this for a higher level class (B2 in the CEF rankings) I was teaching. It's a fun card game similar to UNO but with language. It's definitely not for low level classes, but if students can form a variety of phrasal verbs, this is a good way for them to review their vocabulary.

It’s nice to have these cards all together but you can write your own on index cards for a lot cheaper it’s basically $27 for black white and red cards. It’s just a deck of cards that’s it

'Phrase It' is fantastic! People don't learn languages by studying ABOUT them, we learn languages by USING them. 'Phrase It' is a simple, exciting card game that has students engage in English in fun, authentic ways. Teams for Novices, individually for Advanced...The other games in the booklet that came with my Phrase It cards were an unexpected BONUS.Great ideas. Great games. Great fun. Great opportunities for learners.

I use this with my High School ELL class. For some students, we translate the phrase and then allow them to create their own sentence for it. I also make all the students repeat all the sentences created. This is good to help teach multiple meaning phrases. On our game day, this is the game the students choose to play more often than any other language game in my class.

I took this to SE Asia with me for a month of ESL teaching. It was great to make students think and learn to speak in complete sentences. I had lots of opportunity to elicit definitions from them. Once they understood what the phrasal verb meant, I had them use it in several sentences to strengthen their understanding and memory. The accompanying book has many good games to use depending on the level of your students. This has become a valuable tool for my weekly class here in the US too.
