TLDR; probably best for wood appliances. But with a little imagination these worked for me. Good wheel movement. Brackets could be a bit bigger.I am not a carpenter, so I spent a couple days figuring out how to install these on my metal bed posts. I went to the hardware store and got the metal drill bits and the bolts. I used a car jack and jack stands to prop up my bed. I drilled the wheels in. After that, the bracket on the wheels buckled from the weight. Luckily there’s a hole in the bottom, through which I threaded a wire and bent the bracket back into shape, and wired the bottom of the bracket to another hole I added in the bed post. Now I’m doing donuts on my bed in my room.

Sometimes a side mounted caster is the only solution, and these are at a low enough price per caster that they're good to have on hand. The brakes stop the wheel from rolling but not from swiveling. They roll smoothly, but they don't have a weight rating for these. Based on gut feeling and similar casters I've seen or used, I'd guess you could probably get about 150 pounds per caster, but I typically play it safe and use 2/3 of the rating, so let's say it's 100 pounds per caster. I almost never use included screws because they're rarely top quality or the best size. I recommend fasteners as long as practical for what you're attaching them to. I like these.

I just received my order of these wheels and I don’t know why they have received such bad reviews? I am replacing the four wheels that I had purchased from our local hardware store for my birds perch. I have really big bird and the perch is 5’ tall on a 28”X28” square base and weighs about 45lbs. The wheels I purchased from the hardware store cost around $3.25 each. They are the normal 4 hole flat bottom mount. I have disliked them ever since I put them on and I just didn’t want to go through the hassle of removing them and taking them back to the store to upgrade to the next size and quality of wheels that cost $4.25 a piece. So I have dealt with the dragging, noisy and rough rolling perch…… until now! I was skeptical about these wheels especially at the price I paid for these. I was just going to get 4 wheels for another cabinet out in the garage but ran across the 8 pack of these and thought… Hey replace the perch wheels too. Generally I write reviews on items that strike me as worthy of my time in writing them. I wouldn’t normally review an item like wheels but I was blown away by the crappy reviews on this item and I think that they received BAD reviews from people who don’t know what the heck they’re talking about. The picture shows the wheels just laying in the box but they were also in a plastic bag inside the box originally but I opened them.First off the most noticeable thing was the weight of each one. Very very solid quality and build. The tire portion is medium rubbery hardness and I immediately knew that it will be very quiet and smooth once I put them on the perch. The existing wheels I have on it is a hard plastic type of surface and I had thought that they would do the job. I was wrong about that for sure. But these new wheels are going to be absolutely perfect for the applications I have for them.The 4 locking wheels are strong in the mechanism that locks them. The bearings that are built into the assembly is top notch and there is no rattling or looseness often present in lesser made wheels. The rolling of the wheel is so smooth and seems to glide effortlessly and silently.I am excited to install these and so I am finishing up this review so I can do just that. There is no need for me to install them before I review them because I already know that they are going to be great on the items that I mentioned.I have NEVER reviewed an item before I used it but I just had to do it now or my procrastination would get in the way.I highly recommend these to anyone who has needs for this type of wheel. Last thing. There are 5 screw holes in the mount bracket. 2 bottom and 3 side. Be smart and use all 5 holes to mount them. There is a reason why they have 5 holes. USE THEM!
