I am using an inexpensive mini-computer to control my very old stereo system and wanted to set up the system as headless (no monitor). I am using this audio extractor, Chrome Remote Desktop (not Windows remote desktop, which doesn't work with HDMI outputs), and a dummy EDID HDMI plug. I now have a completely remote audio system to play YouTube music videos and cloud media player music. This audio extractor lets me use a stereo receiver that doesn't even have HDMI inputs and I couldn't be more pleased.

I'm trying to hook up my bookshelf speakers to my TV but I'm trying to use ARC because the 3.5mm output causes my speakers to pop every time I turn the TV on. I'm sure this device would be great if my speakers had a SPDIF input, but they are RCA only. This device only outputs ARC audio through the SPDIF output and not the RCA outputs. That's my fault for not reading the description close enough before buying it.

This Hdmi audio extractor has worked perfectly to solve my dilemma. I have a pair of really good speakers that are about 15 years old that I would connect to a laptop at my desk. In recent years I've moved and have been without a desk for some time using just a chromebook and ipad but I've slowly started building my desk set up in the last few months. I finally got a monitor and made a big mistake thinking that the audio line in port was a headphone port which was how I connected my speakers in the past. I really didn't want to go through the hassle of returning and starting the search over again for a monitor that could utilize my speakers so I did some research if there was a fix and thats how I discovered about this type of device. Since I don't have a pc or a decent laptop at the moment which I could have directly connected my speakers to I needed a tool like this to act as a stand in until I do get one. A lot of this stuff is new to me and I'm learning as I go along but I'm glad this didn't turn out to be as complicated as I thought it would be. I did need to order a 2 rca male to male cable for this to work in my situation as this box doesn't have the option of an audio out port like some do. But I think the rca is more of a stable connection whereas the headphone jack connection can rotate and disrupt and briefly distort the audio. It took me less than 15 minutes to fiddle with my cables and set this up and the audio sounds amazing and clear I'm impressed. I mostly use my monitor at the moment for watching youtube and netflix so I have an amazon firestick connected directly to this. I have a pair of bluetooth headphones synced with firestick and can easily pop them out of the case and it will switch between the headphones and the external speakers smoothly without much delay. I can also choose to still have sound come out of my monitors built in speakers alone, or just my external speakers alone or in conjunction so I can play around with that to get it however I like it which is really nice. So happy with this purchase that has been working out successfully for me so far in the last 2 weeks I highly recommend this brand.
