This barcode scanner works great, and I love that it's wireless. The bright green makes it easy to keep track of, and the color display screen is really easy to read. I will say as I've been trying to figure out how to use it, there is definitely a learning curve and I wish the screen told you more information. It also seems that you really need to keep up with the booklet it comes with because pretty much all settings are set by scanning of various barcodes in the booklet. This is kind of cool, but I'd like it if I was also able to adjust those settings in the item itself. I haven't tried connecting it to my computer yet, but hopefully that's relatively straightforward. I'm a bit intimidated by this, since it's my first barcode scanner purchase, but I'm hopeful I can use it to organize all of my belongings when I move in an easier way than using my phone to scan them. We shall see!

I ordered this after watching my wife punching barcoded numbers into an Excel spreadsheet for work at home one day. It never even occurred to her that barcode readers would work like a keyboard, and she could just scan them all. This barcode scanner does great with both one-dimensional and two-dimensional barcodes, it works well both wired and wireless, and it has a plethora of customizations that you can make by scanning various barcodes in the manual. If anything, the only negative I can think of is that there is so much customization, it might be above and beyond some people.Either way, it works great for my wife's situation, and I helped her turn what was an hour long typing task, into a 5-minute scanning task.

The scanner operates right out of the box and is easy to set up for your specific needs. In my case, I only need it to scan a UPC for inventory. I particularly like the ability to scan or not scan the check digit; like other scanners, this one is programmed by scanning a code out of the instruction manual. There is a code to scan the UPC (eyereadable only), and one to enable scanning of the check digit. It will do all sorts of additional 1D barcodes, but, it will not do a USPS IMb. I've seen in many places that an IMb is a 1D barcode, but because of the way an IMb uses the T,A,F,D bars, a 1D scanner may not be able to interpret them.Others have mentioned that there is storage for the dongle in the bottom of the handle- a very nice feature. The device is auto-off, and does not have a power switch, so it's employee proof; that is, you can program the codes you need scanned once, and never need to worry that someone will accidentally wipe them out (there's a reset code in the book for when you want to do that). Also, the lime green accents make this scanner stand out from all of my other black and shades of black tech, so it's easy to find.

This is a very nice unit - it feels well built and looks like it would not break if I were to drop it (though I'm not going to test that out). I was able to use it immediately out of the box (after making sure it's fully charged). No setups required for what I needed. I simply plugged the USB-A dongle into my computer, opened up Microsoft Excel and proceeded to scan multiple serial #'s very successfully. I was surprised at the distance from which I could scan successfully - more than 1 foot away - which I wasn't able to do with my previous scanner. I also liked the fact that this has a display on the scanner - easy for me to see the signal strength as I move around a large area - and the battery meter tells me how much charge I have left like on my phone. An additional plus is that this scanner actually has a slot to hold the USB dongle - helps to prevent me from misplacing/losing the dongle if it I don't have it plugged into my computer. The only downside with this scanner (which is why I only gave four stars) is that it is not a laser scanner - meaning the red light that is emitted from the scanner to read bar codes is not a crisp red line - this becomes a problem when you have a barcode label with multiple barcodes printed on top of each other with only a slight blank space between the bar codes and you want to scan the middle row. Example - a Barcode that has a Part #, Serial # and Mfg Date on a label from top down and you want to scan the Serial # - sometimes the scanner picks up the Part # or the Mfg Date. The description wasn't clear on whether it was a laser scanner or not.

The JRHC Barcode Scanner is like the Swiss Army knife of barcode scanners – versatile, reliable, and comes in a snazzy red! With its 1D CCD technology, it's ready to tackle any barcode you throw at it, whether it's on a crumpled receipt or a shiny new gadget. It's quick setup and ease of use, making it a hit for both tech newbies and seasoned pros. Plus, with a display screen that's clearer than my crystal ball, you'll never have to second-guess a scan. And if you're tired of cords cramping your style, the wireless feature has got you covered. Just charge it up, grab it, and you're ready to scan away to inventory heaven. Just know the beeping sound it makes is annoying.
