the negative reviews warned the clamps are not sized correctly and does not fit because of Mismatched diameters.

My daughter needs a different shape for her chin rest. This seemed like it would be fine. But it is missing the cork pieces that attach to the metal and to the rest where it would touch the instrument. Without the cork, this would damage the violin so this chin rest is unusable. I am returning it.

This was great for the price. It fit the 1/2 size violin I needed it for just right. One thing to point out though is it doesn't come with any cork where it touches the violin to protect the violin and keep it from slipping. This doesn't lower my review, because there is nothing to indicate it does come with that. It is just easy to forget that you will need that before putting something like this on a violin. It's easy to find really thin sheets of cork at craft stores, so not really a big deal.

The diameter of the threaded metal hardware provided is far smaller than the holes bored into the ebony chinrest. Avoid this product.
