This garment steamer heats up very quickly. It takes less than a minute for it to produce steam for me. However, I am not sure if the amount and type of water in the reservoir will have an impact. I use distilled water and I don't put too much water inside the reservoir because I don't want too much water sitting inside for too long. I decided to use distilled water to save time and money cleaning a clogged steamer.I chose the version with the metal steam head for better durability and results. In my opinion, a metal steam head will perform better than a plastic steam head because the metal steam head can serve as a hybrid iron. But I admit that it is just my opinion and I have no evidence to back it up.This steamer works very well with my cotton t-shirts and polo shirts. It only takes me around a minute to remove the wrinkles from a cotton t-shirt or polo shirt. It was not as effective with my linen shirts although it still does a decent job of removing wrinkles on linen. However, I don't blame the steamer because linen naturally wrinkles very easily. Using this steamer on a linen shirt removes enough wrinkles to make my linen shirts wearable. It takes me between one to two minutes to steam linen shirt so it's not bad.The hose gets a bit hot even if I am only using the steamer for less than five minutes. It is not hot enough to cause serious burns but I usually steam my clothes just before wearing them so I cannot speak for prolonged usage. The steamer comes with a pole as shown on the pictures on Amazon. That is where you can keep the steamer head when the steamer is not in use. It also doubles as a place where you can hang your clothes while steaming. This steamer is relatively light and does not take up too much space. It has wheels to increase its portability. Moreover, it comes with a wrench that you can use while assembling the steamer. I really like that the steamer has a magnet so it can be stored underneath the steamer. This is a very convenient storage option. The steamer is also very easy to assemble and comes with instructions. Jiffy offers various steamer heads for different purposes, making this steamer very versatile. Finally, I was able to register my steamer with Jiffy for warranty purposes even if I live in Canada. You can do it by sending an email to Jiffy's customer service team and they will register the product for you. You may visit Jiffy's website to see their updated contact details.

Coming from a skeptic I did my research and ordered the J-2000 Jiffy Garment Steamer and kept my fingers crossed. So impressed with the quality, the stability, the fast response, the cute pink color and the overall brilliance of this product. GOODBYE irons. This is the way to go. It is expensive but not considering the quality and how quickly it works and how well it works. HIGHLY recommend and to all the skeptics out there - I cannot vouch for all steamers but I can vouch for this one. It is glorious. I keep mine ready to go in the spare room and it is cute as a button too. So glad I followed my research and bought a quality product right off the bat rather than buying and failing with cheaper steamers first. Amazon also gave awesome delivery service.

I've used portable steamers for years and read a lot of reviews about different floor standing models before purchasing this one. This steamer is easy to assemble, heats up quickly, holds about 3/4 of a gallon worth of water, has a well insulated handle, pumps out steam in a steady flow and pretty much does everything you'd expect a quality steamer to do. Construction is excellent and even the plastic head is made from a nice heavy plastic. If you'd prefer a metal head, one is available from Amazon. The instructions are brief, to the point and complete and as long as you follow them, you'll get great results. Here's what I mean:1. getting wrinkles out not only depends on steam but also touching the head directly to the cloth2. if you buy this expecting to generate nice sharp creases in trousers, you'll be disappointed ... UNLESS you buy or make a steaming board. However, if you are a "razor sharp" crease person, use an iron.3. even though you can use tap water, based on past experience, I recommend that you don't. Gallon bottles of distilled water are cheap at the grocery store and you won't have to use the recommended cleaner to cleanse the heating element and thermostat probe. If you do intend to use tap water, buy a bottle of the system cleaner for 6 bucks ... it's easy to use.I wear business suits daily and dry cleaning costs a fortune. Yes, you still need to dry clean to keep them fresh, but I can usually wear a suit two or three times before cleaning (depending on weather) and this steamer makes easy work out of taking out wrinkles, even the stubborn ones in the crotch, seat and coat back. Most of my suits are "permanently creased" by my tailor, so steaming wrinkles still leaves me with pretty sharp creases. Want to touch up a wash-and-wear shirt that sat in the dryer to long? This is a fast and easy way to make the shirt look great. Everybody has their own preference, but for me this is much easier than ironing. My wife uses it on very delicate stuff without problems.All-in-all, a great little tool for helping you look sharp. I wouldn't trade mine in.
