These are a big safer for me. My pool pump started to leak between the impeller housing and the motor. The shroud that covers the impeller uses two sheet metal screws that screw into a plastic base, needles to say they stripped out. I had to re-drill the base to insert these self-threading inserts. With Stainless Steel machine screws that problem is solved, for good! Easy to install the insert, making it a quick job to get the pool pump operational again. A big headache solved for me!

I got this to do what I needed it to do, but these aren’t “self taping” per se, if you’re going into metal. You’ll have to get an M6-1.0 tap. I used this to repair a MAF thread mount off a Cold Air intake that i bought used, and it’s obsolete so I wanted to try my best to restore it.

Be careful when threading these in using the slot cut into the top. I had three out of four of them snap the side off when trying to run these in. The metal is somewhat soft, so on smaller diameters, the notch weakens it enough to make it easy to break. I was able to insert a bolt with a nut on it into them and then utilize the nut as a jam to run the inserts all the way in the rest of the way. Still functions, holds great once inserted, but just needs a little care when installing.

Used four of these to fix a Milwaukee drill. Came in handy, definitely good to have.

If screw hole location is critical don't trust these.
