I bought this to install behind my daughter’s fridge for her ice maker. It was simple and quick to install. They have not had any problems with it at all. And it seems like it is going to be super simple to change filters when it is time.

I have a small kitchen and recently purchased a new refrigerator to replace my old one that died. I wanted a refrigerator with an ice maker. The ones with the ice and water dispenser in the door were too wide. The narrower ones that would fit had ice makers inside the freezer bin, but no water dispenser. Surprisingly, those models also didn't have a water filter. There was already a water supply for the refrigerator, so I just needed to install the filter between the supply and the refrigerator. They were 1/4" fittings. Most of the external filters were made for kitchen faucets and had 1/2" and 3/8" fittings. This one has 1/4" fittings. I'm no plumber and this was fairly easy to install. Where to locate the filter was my biggest issue. My refrigerator has the wall on one side and a counter top with drawers on the other side. I finally decided to put it in the little cabinet above the refrigerator. You know, the little cabinet that is pointless as it's hard to reach and too small to hold much of anything of use. In my picture, you'll see some slack in the tubing. That was on purpose so I could pull the filter out making it easier to change. Also, I can pull the refrigerator out, if need be. The back of my refrigerator is very close to the wall, so there was no room to mount the filter back there. Also, I didn't want to have to pull the refrigerator out to just change the filter. I used the included valve on the input of the filter in the cabinet, making it easy to shut off the water for a filter change.

The product arrived on time, packaged well, well priced, and easy to install. This isn't a complaint, because the company made everything right, but one of the fittings that came with the kit that was supposed to be threaded was missing the threads. Most likely an error on the manufacturers part and not the seller. Because I needed to install this filter right away, I had to go to the hardware to purchase a replacement fitting. After installation, which was simple, everything worked great, and I was back in business with great ice and water. I then sent an email to the company explaining the situation, not asking for or expecting any compensation... but rather to just make them aware of the situation. In return I received a very nice reply, and the offer to reimburse me for the part I had to purchase. Two days later my Amazon account was credited for the part. This is great customer service! As I replied back in my email... things happen sometimes, and I was not at all upset. The credit probably ate up any profit on this sale... but any company who's goal is to make their customers happy... will always get my repeat business. I suspect this defective part was one of those one-in-a- thousand. I highly recommend this company! Thank you for your great customer service!

This is such a quality of life improvement for so little money and so little effort that everyone should install one.We replaced a refrigerator which had an internal filter for the in-door water and ice with one that only had ice and no internal filter. This was our preference to get more storage space, but the tradeoff is that the ice maker did not have a filter and the resultant ice had a very "stale" taste straight from the tap.I chose this kit because it seemed to come with everything that you need to hook it up (thereby negating runs to the hardware store)The installation is very straight forward as all of the connections are push-to-connect and watertight; no plumbing tools or skills required whatsoever. The plastic connectors show no deficiency compared with the previous brass connector I had in place. Depending on how you choose to mount the filter, you may need to have a drill handy, but you could just as easily leave it on any flat surface. The resulting ice cubes are much improved over straight tap water; there is no taste whatsoever.Completely worth your time and dollars for any appliance that accepts a 1/4" water source.

Opened the box and saw the assortment of parts. I didn't need any of them in my case. I decided to install my filter in the basement where I had installed the shutoff valve. First thing I did was install the bracket. Easy, one screw into a floor joist using a battery drill and done. Turned off my shutoff valve and cut the existing plastic line that feeds the refrigerator water. Inserted the water supply line to the in side of the filter. Got a bucket and turned on the valve to purge the filter. Had to do it a second time because my bucket only holds about 2 gallons. Then I slipped the line from the refrigerator into the output of the filter. Turned the valve on and checked for leaks, there were none.Emptied the bucket of ice and let the ice maker do it's thing. Since I wasn't able to purge the line to the ice maker of unfiltered water I threw away the first three rounds of ice. Tasted the 2nd round and it was much better but could still taste it was a bit off. My wife tasted the 4th round and said it was so much better than it had been.I'm pretty sure that a few more rounds to completely purge the older water out of the system and maybe the filter and it will be up to par.So far the experience has been nice, easy install, promising results and a happy wife.
