When I first got my ham technician license, I found that using my dual band handheld in the vehicle could be annoying. Car cup holders are not very effective for holding a radio. Then, when I started using a hand mic, the issues just multiplied. So when I saw this twin bracket, I figured this would be an excellent solution, and I was right. The bracket very nicely holds both radio and speaker-mic in a convenient location which makes things so much smoother. The overall design and construction is very good. The bracket is made from a thick plastic. The clip loop and mic yoke are secured to the main bracket with metal screws which seem to hold them quite effectively. One of my favorite features is the 1/4” threaded brass insert on the back of the bracket, which holds the plastic ball for connection to an articulating arm (not included). The reason I like this threaded hole so much is because it allows the ball to be removed so I can use the bracket with standard tripod mounts or accessories. This opens up a wide variety of uses, including stationary amounts for field day activities. All things considered, I think that this is a very useful and effective amount.

The HYS mic/radio mount works OK, but you have to be sure to put the heavier item on the right side so that it is torquing the mount against the screw-in ball in the clockwise direction, otherwise it may loosen (as delivered, the clip-on holder was on the left, so I had to swap them to hold my heavy 800MHz pager). This mount wants to move when I have my APX7000 on there, but that's a beast of a radio and it's not really fair to mark it down for that - perhaps attaching with a C ball might overcome the torque. A small redesign of the threaded stud might also help: If the spot where the stud comes out were as wide as the base of the ball mount, then there might be enough friction to better resist the leverage of the arm. It holds a mobile mic and a clip-on mic or pager fine with the B ball. Overall, this is a sturdy, convenient, and economical mount. Good buy!

This is pretty function and you can change out what brackets you have to hold what you need. Attached is the cellphone holder and holder for the mic.You do need to torque these tightly down to prevent it from spinning off due to uneven load.

I don't use portable radios often, and when I do I find myself dropping them randomly all over my truck. This is great because I can just pop this on my existing mount system, and put both a radio and wired mic on it, keeping it up and out of cupholders, off the floor, keeping it right where I need it.

This item works well enough holding my HT Radio and handheld mic (Anytone 878 & Mic). The product itself is sturdy enough for the smaller handhelds, but I would recommend using a bit of thread lock when installing the 1" ball to the bracket. The constant removal and hanging of the mic, or radio seemed to constantly rotate the holder one way or the other. The ball stayed very secure on the mounting arm (Ram Mount style arm), but rotated between the ball and the horizontal holder. This piece didn't work that well for my application (2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ), simply because of the horizontal space required. I thing this would work great in my truck where there is more open space to mount it. Nice product, but simply not for my personal application.
