It works great!! I cooked a frozen lean cuisine in it and it was hot by the time I ate it! It only took an hour from frozen to hot! I was very surprised!! My boss does not allow a microwave, because of smells (I work in a dental office) so this is very handy!! I also love that you can use any container inside, no matter what shape or material.

La utilizo para mi trabajo y es muy práctica tanto en espacio al acomodarla en mi maletín, como en tiempo al momento de calentar mis alimentos.

I used to run to the microwave for everything and after doing some research decided to finally just say no. Research suggests that once you nuke your food, there literally isn't any obtainable nutrients left. I will say again it is important to do your own research where this is concerned as most will just scoff at the idea of changing die-hard routines. Now on to the good part, this heater is truly amazing!!! I have had it for 8 years...yes 8 years and it works like a charm when needed. At any job site I beat the micro drones and heat my food away from prying eyes. The trick is before you are ready to eat, take the time to plug it in about an hour beforehand. Now I know most would just love to snap their fingers and their food is ready, we aren’t there yet, but we will be, so this will take some time to get the hang of in regards to your timing because it is important.About an hour before you are planning to take a lunch plug it in with your food in it regardless if it is cold or not. I often take my cold food lunch box and put it in the heater before it is even plugged in. Whenever I am ready to eat in about 45 minutes to an hour or more, it is as if the food has miraculously been made for me, and this is not a stretch. Not rubbery like food from a microwave and if you made your food the night before, you will be pleasantly surprised that it is as if you put your food on pause to have it the day after.I am sure there are heaters that may not work after a while and all the other issues that comes from many things whether use or faulty parts however, neither is a reason to not explore your options in having a great alternative to heating up your food. This product is the coolest little gadget in my arsenal of enjoying my leftovers for a long while now giving me a plenty of time to partake in other enjoyable activities while heating my food is off my checklist.

After 27 years, I've decided to try camping again. I have to gear up, but I'm not ready to spring for a stove. I'm not thrilled with the idea of buying and storing propane. The small tanks most camp stoves use are more than I'm willing to pay for or deal with. Will an electric lunchbox do the trick? I hope so...at least for a weekend excursion now and then.I have two Bluetti EB3A batteries. Each stores 268 watt hours when 100% charged. I have a solar panel, but what if it's cloudy the entire weekend? So I'm trying to figure out if I can comfortably camp an entire weekend on two batteries if I don't charge them. Yes, I could charge them with my car, but I'm there to hike...not drive so I don't drain the car battery while charging the Bluettis. With that in mind, I did a rough test to see what I can do with this electric lunchbox. I thought I'd share my results so others have a general idea of whether this could work for them. Keep in mind that this is a really rough test, and there are so many variables that my results may not match yours if you did something similar.I had 1 cup of homemade stew in an Oxo Good Grips 1.6 cup glass storage container. The stew was about an inch deep and had thawed in the refrigerator overnight. It was fully thawed when I heated it in the lunchbox the next morning.During the test, the lunchbox consistently drew 43 watts from my battery. My battery holds 268 watt hours. At 25 minutes, it had used 11% of my battery, and the stew felt room temperature when I ate a bite.At 35 minutes, it had used 16% of my battery, and the stew felt warm when I ate a bite.At 45 minutes, it had used 20% of my battery, and the stew felt hot when I ate a bite. Not piping hot, have to blow on it hot. Just pleasantly hot. At this point I stopped, because I wouldn't waste my battery making something so hot it had to cool before I could eat it.Note that the lunchbox instructions say that spreading more thinly in a larger container will heat faster, because more of the container will be in contact with the hot plate. My container only took up half the lunchbox. However, I bought a three cup Pyrex rectangular container that would cover the entire heat pad in the lunchbox. So I think if I transfer the stew to that for heating, it will use less battery power. I'm not going to bother with that test for now, as I prefer to leave myself a wide margin of error with my estimation on whether I can camp a full weekend with two batteries without charging. That said, I don't think it will cut power consumption in half, because you have to figure that there is more glass to heat in a larger container. Maybe it will save me a third, however, which is worthwhile if you're faced with a cloudy weekend and no solar charging, so you're trying to conserve energy. If I really like this lunchbox for camping and I start going a lot, I think I'll also look for a metal container. Heck, maybe I'll even do that now. Metal cooking containers are thinner and conduct heat faster, so it should use a lot less energy than the glass containers. That might work better for my purposes.I think if I were driving around all day, though, and powering off of the car, a glass container would be my preference. I like glass for storage, so in that scenario, it would nice to store meal-sized portions in glass and then pop that into the lunchbox.I hope this helps someone! Happy camping. :-)

This is an amazing product. I never realized how much a microwave dries out or toughens food. Being a fitness person who packs meals, my food sometimes is not that tasty, nuking it made it worse. With this, gently warming it makes the food taste way better. I recommend this big time. If you are a fitness person, this is a must have especially when traveling. When competing, you can warm your meals anywhere!!!Just an update, I found that you need to use storage containers that are wide, sort of matching the surface of the warming plate. I know this makes sense and most of you would already know this. I noticed this when using more narrow tall containers that I was using due to limitations of my lunch bag and it did not heat the food nearly as well. So if you make sure you use wide and longer containers like the one in the photo below, you will see this thing works amazingly. This is a life saver as I prepare all my meals and love having the ability to warm them gently so that the flavors are not nuked to death.

Let me start off by saying that I use this with a container that fits perfectly inside. The description for this container on amazon is: Pyrex Storage 6-Cup Rectangular Dish with Dark Blue Plastic Cover. It took me a while to figure out exactly what container to use so I want to save people some time. This container costs $6.55 on amazon at the time of my purchase. Don't waste your money on the one with the ventilated lid, that's only useful for microwaving and costs more than double. This oven will not pressurize the inside of your container. Microwaves are horrible about that because they heat the water very aggressively so that some of it is boiling even when your food is cold in the middle.I plug this thing in when I get to work at 8:30am and when I eat lunch sometime after 11:00am the food is perfect. I was concerned at first that this might overcook my food leaving it in there so long but it does not. Today I had leftover steak, It was the ultimate test because it was one of the best I have ever cooked and the microwave I was using before always ruined steak. It was outstanding. You can leave your food in this thing for a long time and it will be fine. If you are a few hours late to lunch no big deal, it will still be better than microwaving. The secret is that it cooks your food in a sealed container with very good temperature control, trapping the moisture and odor inside. Since it cooks gently and from the bottom you do not need to worry about your plastic lid. The lid just doesn't get that hot.I have access to a microwave at work and I never have to wait for it, that being said, I will never use it again. Frozen meals are excellent in this unit as well, the difference between this and a microwave is even more obvious with frozen food.In case anyone is curious about it, I did some research and found that the power consumption for the HotLogic Mini is 45 watts. That's 0.375 amps at 120 volts. Taking into account the efficiency loss of using an inverter, you could run 4 of these off of a standard 20 amp 12 Volt socket in a car. I have never tested this but the math works out.Update:It's been a while and both of my units are still working perfectly. I have been using the one I keep at work every day and I will never go back to microwaving. Since my food is so much better now, I bring my lunch much more consistently and the savings are adding up. When my lunch break starts I get to sit down and start eating right away, It blows my mind that my co workers can see how good this thing is and yet they still use the microwave to destroy their food. I paid $30 each for mine and it's possible the best money I've ever spent.
