Would not own this tool personally. Variable speed works well, but the grinder gets very hot, very fast and is pretty easy to overpower and stop when the grinder is going. Only used it for about 10 minutes before moving on to something else.

Only had this a short time but it has more than paid for itself in my opinion. Unlike what most people us it for it suits my needs exactly. I buy and sell vintage loggin tools. My primary vintage tool I buy, and professionaly restore are the Two Man Crosscut Saws which some people call misery whips. Cleaning them requires taking off layers of rust sometimes. The area you really really have to be careful of is the area where the cutting teeth of the saw are and subsequently next to those cutting teeth is a raker and like the name sounds, it takes the sawdust you just cut and rakes it out of slice and drops on the ground. So... when cleaning that area, you have to be carefully how long the grinder with a scuff pad works over the surface. Grinders that only have one speed in the 11,000 RPM range, run so fast that it heats up the metal quickly, turns red hot and takes out the temper making it worthless thus losing a $200-$350 sale. This Variable Speed Grinder allows me to reduce the speed in those areas, gets the job done with zero damage. The back pad I also bought same time works on the same principle as velcro so the scuff pads i bought that have no holes in the center, fit exactly on the back pad and hold perfectly with this grinder adjusted to a slower speed. On typical other high RPM grinders, the high speed, even with velcro pads stuck to the back pad, are prone to come loose and spin off repeatedly and you have to shut it down and go find the disk and reattach it. Again, the variable speed angle grinder solves a lot of problems for me and the applications I use it for.

I usually dont right something unless its negative like a lot of people but this grinder is amazing. I used it for polishing granite it works great. Most grinders seem to bog down under pressure, this grinder slows down a lot more than the usual grinder but not terrible for the price i paid. Im comparing this to dewalt and porter cable grinders i own. I do pavers, tile work, and veneer stone for a living so you better believe i know my grinders.

I have had Dewalt grinder for about 15 years that has worked fine for metal, but it's 10,000 RPM and I needed a variable speed for stone. This works great at all speeds. It is somewhat heaver than the Dewalt, which I take as a sign of quality, though the weight can either work for you or against you. It's a lot quieter than the Dewalt even at 11,000 RPM and it's less than half the price of some other variable speed grinders. I recommend it.

I've used it several times and it has worked well when run at near full speed. However the variable speed doesn't work so great. When you run at reduced speed, it does not have much power, and does not maintain speed well at all. A good variable speed control would maintain the speed even when under fairly heavy load
