While the body is often fine under the protection of the down jacket, the head exposed to the strong winter wind often find it hardly bearable any further and will like to retreat to the indoors. This is why this hat is so useful to me. It enables me to withstand the outdoor winter winds for a much longer period without becoming ill.Perhaps the only room for improvement is its brim design. Its brim design is that of a baseball cap rather than that of a cycling cap and is therefore not the best design for cycling.

Well made and great fitting hat. Warm and comfy on a cold day on the water. Looks very utilitarian not flashy, which is a good thing. The face shield helps with keeping the sun and wind from chapping the skin. Performed great. Good product.

I bought the last green version of this hat before all that was left is the dark gray just before Christmas and I got exactly what I wanted. It covers my head and ears well and the face mask is very useful in really cold weather. The lining isn't exactly the thickest out there so your mileage may vary on how effective it is keeping the heat in, but I felt comfortable in -15 windchill weather so it's a thumbs up for me. Ultimately, if you want a hat for winter in this style that isn't too bulky, then this is perfectly fine.

It's the end of June heading on July, so I can't speak of the warmth of this yet, but I'm sure it will be adequately warm. I really like this style of hat, and finding one with a bill to keep the snow and dazzling Colorado winter sun out of my eyes hasn't been all that easy. At least not one that isn't big and bulky, anyway. This hat is sorta lite in weight, has a nice long bill on the front, I'm a big guy with a big head (7.5) and it fits my head perfectly. Not too tight...no too loose. And one of the things that I like most about it is it goes way down my neck and covers the back of my neck all the way down into my coat. The "army green" color is a dark olive drab with a charcoal gray fleece liner, which I like a lot. I threw the face cover in trash, as it's a very lightweight mesh material and I have much better options for the cold and covering my face anyway. I checked it under a faucet and the water runs right off, so it does seem to be waterproof but I hit it with some waterproofing spray anyway. Finding a hat this style with a bill and ear covers that also covers so much of the back of your neck and that is also waterproof usually has a big name sewn on it. And a big price to go along with it, so you can't go wrong for the price and I'm happy with it. Looking forward to winter and some cold days with the snow flying to try it out.

I have several like this one, but this is the one I wear most. Because the chin strap is adjustable and holds the ear flaps tight to my head and keeps me warm. AND, there is a little piece of fabric that tucks inside of one of the ear flaps that you can take out and cover your nose and mouth if need be. So smart to have a built in pocket for this to stay out of the way until you need it.
