I’m no master at welding by far. I am however rather impressed with its power and have found it far superior to my older AC 110V stick welder.I have tried 1/8” 6013 rods and have had 0 luck striking an arc, but it works very well with 1/16” and 3/32” rods while powered with 110VThe included welding shield is not good and I would never personally use it.The included welding rods are J422 and are easy to strike an arc with, though I wouldn’t want to use them on anything important or structural.Overall I’m very pleased with the welder, and my learning is progressing with it

This is a truly amazing little welder. Of course it is not a top name high output stick welder BUT.....1 ... it works perfectly2 ... it has fairly accurate control of the power and options3 ... the quality of the earthing and stick cables are fairly goodSo, to get the downside out of the way, the mask is a complete joke. I immediately went to buy one from my local toll shop as the one provided was worse than useless. This IS an important piece of safety equipment and it would have been better to simply not supply it. The slag hammer and wire brush is a bit micky mouse but it works and for the price point it is fine.I bought this welder as I had an urgent requirement to weld up a frame of really thin and horrid mild steel that had fallen apart and was need to be put back into commission the next day. I have a large MIG welder form a well known manufacturer but did not have time to go over to get it.I felt that a simple arc welder would do the simple job but did not want to spend serious money.I expected this would do the job with a bit of fiddling an had a clamp meter to help me make sure I was using the right current and the output was stable. It came with a few sticks which I did test one of and it was fine. I bought some E6013 2.5 sticks to use to weld the horribly thin steel frame. I was also welding outside in virtually zero degrees centigrade so the steel was very cold.Without any practice, I went straight to doing the job and it worked straight away. The current was stable and within a few percent of the expected output. In short I am SO pleased with this little welder and will have it in our fabrication boxes for building and repairing event sets on site.As a note to teh manufacturer. Slightly longer earther and positive cables would be good. The loss of power for 2-3 feet extra would be a good compromise.A case rather than a strap, would be great. If you are going to sell this as a kit then add a mask that is fit for purpose. We threw this out without even trying it.For our project we bought:A cheap and simple SIP welding helmet with an auto darkening faciity - £25A low end DeWalt cable angle grinder - £39 on offer at half priceNorton 115mm Grinding DisksIMPAX 2.5mm E6013 welding sticks - 5KGSome SIP Magnet holdersSome welding glovesWe also popped into our project box for quick stick welding:An extra heavier wire brushA few clampsAn old pair of pointed nose pliers - to keep the core exposed so we could strike an arc first time every timeSo for less than £200 we have a small flight case with everything we need to confidently make repairs on stage. Of course we have other focussed boxes of tooling to supplement this.If you are concerned about the price of this, some of the negative comments or whether something that is only 4 kilos could be up to the job then dont be. It works so well. The only thing I have marked this down on is the "use for beginners". That is down to typically poor documentation and the rubbish mask.

Tiny and light welder but powerfull ! I tried it on 120 volts with 3/32" 7018...had no problem to strike an arc an weld on 1/8" plate. Many settings to help...hard to see on the screen when outdoor. Very happy! Price unbeatable!
