So cheap it could not penetrate any of my fresh coconuts Lightweight metal and cheap plastic handle Useless I had to use my electric drill

The metal spiral part broke off in the coconut. Not ideal for most coconuts. Might work in the very young coconuts.

Got these for an upcoming trip to Mexico. We love getting coconuts! Thought these will be a great tool for getting the juice and flesh of the fruit.Pros:- nice handle to be able to cut into the coconut.- well constructed- sharp edges to cut with- has a pouring spout to drain liquid once opened.Overall, I really like this unit and cannot wait to use it while on vacation.

Just to clarify what I think is quite obvious: this tool opens a hole on a coconut to insert a straw. It does not open it completely like a machete does. If you're looking to fully open the coconut to eat its pulp, this may help you getting the process started by poking multiple holes, but it won't cut it open for you. I used the tool on a green coconut purchased at a grocery store and it worked quite well. You need some elbow grease, but it's much easier and SAFER than using other non-conventional methods, like a machete or a hammer.
