It does everything! Including mix the dough. No need to wait and let it rise either. You literally just add the ingredients and close the lid. Perfect loaf on first try! 🙌🏼 excited to experiment with other types of bread.

First of all, watch the prices as they vacillate [for both black and white trim] between 99 and 150. My only negative about this machine is the absence of information about the processes it goes through. Hamilton Beach provides all of that for a similar newer model -- I had to work it out myself to know when to remove the paddle to avoid that big hole. I purchased it in black for a young friend, tested it, ordered her the one in white and am keeping the black for myself. It's been used four times - it has never travelled on the counter. Yesterday when she visited I showed her how to guarantee a good loaf -- it is mandatory to watch the kneading process [for all bread machines] because different flours absorb different amounts of water and the only way to know if the dough is right is to watch its behaviour. Because you are watching the dough, you can make additions like seeds. Don't use the 2# setting unless you are just making dough, and do remove the paddle at 1:40. That gives time for the dough to have its final rise and be baked. Choose the light crust. One of the things this machine does is to divide the kneading into two periods -- it permits a preliminary rise after the first kneading, during which water gets absorbed, and after that goes through a second kneading. I can compare this only to a Black and Decker and my Cuisinart Convection, which have only one kneading segment -- Hamilton Beach has a superior programme. If you are prepared to watch the kneading [look for film clips at saladinajar.com] you will have 100% success with this machine. However, if you just put the ingredients in and leave, or set the timer, you are likely to be disappointed because if the dough needed more water [add 1 tbsp at a time] or more flour [add 1 tbsp at a time] you will not have known.I am copying this review for the black trim.Hamilton Beach: please, make a chart of the steps and times available online. I called you and spoke to two clueless reps and no one ever got back to me. I had to stay near the machine and note each step and the time in order to know when to remove the paddle [doing so leaves a small hole only].

This is my first bread machine, and I am very satisfied with this product. Reasons:- Costs a lot ($30) less than a similar product from Cuisinart that does not get as good reviews- Arrived quickly, well packaged (with outside cardboard box) and undamaged- Very compact (more so than I thought) and lightweight, nice looking finish- Comes with measuring spoon, measuring cup, and paddle removing tool (for the times when the paddle remains embadded inside the loaf - super easy to extract it)- Well made where it counts (non-stick baking pan, non-stick and metal paddle), simple where it does not (basic, non-lit display)- Easy to use- Programs include jam (I will try it soon)- Very easy to clean (with a wet paper towel, no detergent) thanks to the non-stick pan and paddle- Well-written manual, basic recipes shown are accurate and well explained (so far I tried basic bread, french bread and sweet bread)- Does not "walk" on my counter (I placed it on a sliding plastic tray)- Relatively quiet, does not bother me at allMy only wish is that the lid was a little taller. When baking a 2 Lbs. loaf the rising dough just touches the lid and makes a bit of a mess, but it is not hard to clean it.Also, it had a strong and not very pleasant chemical smell (coming from the main unit, not from the baking pan) when it arrived. As recommended in the manual, I let it bake with an empty pan for 10 minutes a couple of times and now the smell has subsided almost entirely. Anyway, it does not affect the flavor of the bread, although I would recommend to operate and store it inside a well-aired room the first few days. All in all an excellent and reasonably priced product - I would definitely buy it again!
